FACE TO FACE

The company has invested heavily in developing highend software solutions , culminating in its C-Gate Industry 4.0 digital production system
We are currently working on general interfaces in our software to be able to do this ,” explained Sieghard Thomas .
Processes and solutions
CLOOS maintains a continuous focus on strong welding procedures and processes . “ Every year we develop several new welding processes due to new customer requirements and changing materials . A perfect welding process means a perfect product . We have introduced a new welding procedure for special parts , aluminium welding and low-temperature welding . Laser welding is also becoming more popular . We are currently implementing a new TIG welding process for automated welding . It is important to use the right welding procedures for maximum results and to increase efficiency . We are investing to make these procedures as efficient as possible ,” Sieghard Thomas explained .
The CLOOS application and process development department in Haiger offers feasibility studies on customer components , the creation and optimisation of robot programs and advice on the selection of welding technology . It plays a central role in the development of customer-specific welding solutions and new welding technologies .
The department has 22 employees who aim to get the best out of the arc for customers . The specialists use the latest technologies for manual and automated welding . Whether TIG , MIG , MAG , plasma or laser hybrid , the competence centre covers the entire range of welding technology and can process a wide range of materials . Innovative processes , such as additive welding , are also used and continuously developed at CLOOS . A total of 12 robot systems with various peripheral equipment are available for tests and demonstrations . Complex components with a length of up to six metres and a weight of up to four tonnes can be processed there .
The employees have extensive experience in welding , brazing , cutting , burning , brushing and cleaning as well as the optimum selection of parameters , properties and influences of filler materials and gases plus applications of sensor technology . Digitisation and networking are also playing an increasingly important role in application and process development . All the robot systems are therefore networked with each other and equipped with the CLOOS digitisation platform , C-Gate .
Personal development
CLOOS has very experienced staff who stay , on average , for around 20.6 years in the organisation . Many have been with CLOOS for longer .
“ We offer excellent training and educational

These include in-house apprenticeships , where staff can study for a Bachelor or a Masters degree in-house . Around fifty per cent of our staff come from our own education system . We are a very supportive employer ,” explained Sieghard Thomas .
“ We also work very closely with universities to attract younger ‘ digital natives ’ who are keen to work with robots . The further development of young people and constantly new challenges in the automation environment spur me on ,” added Pittner . “ I look forward to pushing new technologies and innovations in welding and robotics , with our employees in Haiger and around the world .”
Twin priorities for CLOOS right now are increasing its market share and ensuring better cost efficiency for customers . It is creating a new Expert welding product line that is designed to be more affordable for the wider welding market .
“ The systems are not so high-end but will still be very competitive , and do not compromise on quality . We aim to be ready with this line , for selected markets in Europe and the U . S ., in 2022 ,” concluded
