PRODUCT REVIEWS and make better use of its production resources,” outlined Brena.

“ But this is where the complete ecosystem becomes important. More power only creates these opportunities if the machine can use that power efficiently, reliably and with the required level of control,” he maintained.
Higher laser power may also require a different approach to the laser cutting head.
“ At very high powers, the optical system must deal with much higher energy density and thermal loads. You can’ t simply add more power and assume that the rest of the system will behave in the same way. The eVa 11-UHP was developed specifically for laser powers from 20-60kW. Its optical system has been redesigned to manage energy distribution across the optical components, while the new cooling concept manages heat throughout the beam path,” said Brena.
“ We have also addressed focus stability and the thermal behaviour of the distance sensor. The goal is to maintain a more stable and predictable cutting process during high-power operation. High power without control does not automatically produce high performance. The laser source, cutting head and machine must work together,” he added.
Automation in focus
How does Eagle’ s FlowSort automated part separation and sorting system fit into the complete production ecosytem?
“ When the machine becomes faster, the rest of the production process must keep up. If a laser produces parts at a much higher rate but an operator must still manually separate, lift, sort and organise them, the bottleneck simply moves from the machine to the area beside it. FlowSort addresses this part of the process by automating part separation and sorting. It organises finished components and prepares them for the next production stage, reducing manual handling and helping to maintain smoother material flow. For us, this is a natural extension of the same philosophy. If we increase cutting productivity, we must also consider what happens before and after the cut,” said Brena.

This approach also affects the way that Eagle thinks about automation more broadly – not something that should be designed around one isolated machine. Production facilities evolve, and automation needs to evolve with them.
FlowSort uses a modular architecture and interchangeable gripping tools, allowing it to handle different parts, materials and production requirements. The wider concept can also connect storage, material handling, multiple laser-cutting machines and downstream processes. The idea is to move away from machines operating as isolated islands and towards a connected production environment where material can move efficiently through the factory.
“ This also makes scalability important. A manufacturer may start with one machine and expand later. The automation should be able to grow with the production rather than becoming a limitation,” stated Camillo Brena.
Diagnostics, maintenance and service
An unexpected machine stop does not only mean lost cutting time. It can affect production planning, delivery schedules, downstream processes and, ultimately, the profitability of the entire operation. That is why reliability, diagnostics, maintenance and service are all part of the overall value of a machine.
“ Our Eagle Trust philosophy goes beyond selling and installing a machine. We want to build a continuous and transparent relationship with our customers throughout the lifetime of the solution. Customers need reliable technology, but they also need to know what is happening when something requires attention. Clear communication, responsive service and transparency are part of the performance that we want to deliver,” added Brena.
“ The real power of a laser cutting machine is the ability of the complete system to create productive and profitable output. Kilowatts matter. Dynamics, optics, automation and reliability matter. But none of these elements exists in isolation. That is how we see the next stage of laser cutting. Not simply as a race towards higher specifications, but as an opportunity to make the entire production system more capable. The real power is what the complete ecosystem allows the manufacturer to achieve,” he concluded. n
