FOCUS ON STORAGE
FEEDING THE FLOW
The Kasto UNIGRIP at KWM Weisshaar has 682 storage locations, offering space for material prepared for final assembly.
German sheet metal processor, KWM Weisshar, commissioned a retrofit of its KASTO UNIGRIP buffer storage system which works alongside a UNILINE storage system.
“ Retrofits and regular services of material storage and handling systems around shop floor machinery help to ensure continuous uptime of sheet metal production.”
KWM Weisshaar in Mosbach, Germany, is a sheet metal processing, fabrication and logistics company. It processes around 5,000 tons per year of steel, stainless steel and aluminium. KWM has an annual turnover of about 50 million euros and employs around 450 people( approximately ten per cent of whom are apprentices).
Most of its customers are in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The most significant industry that it serves is rail vehicle construction. The company not only manufactures mechanical components( such as roof segments for railcar bodies) but also completes air-conditioning units and battery boxes.
KWM is a longstanding user of German materials’ storage solutions provider, Kasto Maschinenbau. It therefore called in the supplier in 2024 to upgrade the electrical equipment, electronics and software of its 17-year-old Kasto UNIGRIP buffer storage system.
