FACE TO FACE

We will highlight our next generation of TruLaser cutting machines, the TruLaser 5000 series, with automated, AI-based sorting features. The improved machines will feature software to increase machine uptime, reduce breakdowns and resolve issues in the cutting process. We have also significantly improved transparency, for example through the use of a second monitor and integrated cameras. This massively helps users to realise their productivity potential and proactively prevent unplanned downtime.
We will also showcase a robot on tubeprocessing machinery and present our new generation of higher power tube machines with extra features for processing larger diameter tube with automation( directly connected to tube bending activities).
On the bending side, we will introduce our latest TruBend 8000( a high-tonnage press brake) which will also be connected to a robot for heavy part( ≥200kg) bending. We will also showcase a new series of TruLaser Weld, for our budget-oriented customers, and a new generation of our TruPunch 5000 punching machine, directly connected to panel bending including buffer space.
ISMR: TRUMPF has been a key adopter of AI technology across its corporate, product and service operations. How can you allay manufacturer concerns over cyber security?
A cut sheet metal part.
TRUMPF has implemented AI across its corporate, product and service operations.
We also apply AI to TRUMPF internal processes( i. e. rapid customer replies, fast quotation generation, service tickets etc.) as well as to our machines to make them better, more robust, easier to handle and more preventive in nature. We take our time to get this right, accepting that perhaps we are not the fastest but are the most reliable: quality and safety are more important to us. However, the journey has only just begun— the next ten years should see many more developments in this area.
SM: I would like to emphasise that wherever we apply AI, we take cyber concerns and information security extremely seriously. AI offers huge potential, but there is also a certain risk attached. We invest a lot into cyber security, especially where it concerns connectivity to our customers. We know how important it is that our customers are safe and that the AI is doing what we want it to do.
There is a big gap in what people read in the news about out-of-control AI LLMs in the wider industry, compared to what we do in the machine-tool industry. AI is a huge field;
Wherever we apply AI, we take cyber concerns and information security extremely seriously
we are not applying it as quickly as some of the hyper-scalers. We are taking our time and conservatively testing AI systems to ensure safety for our customers. We also consider what may happen for the remaining 0. x % unpredictable behaviour, especially when it comes to safety.
ISMR: Thank you for your time. n
