New Grand Twin waterjet cutting system
Two machines in one, or one large-format waterjet when required. With its new Grand Twin concept, Water Jet Sweden( WJS) gives manufacturers the flexibility to adapt cutting capacity to changing production needs. The first Grand Twin has now been delivered to a WJS customer in Norway.
“ As production mixes become more diverse and components larger, manufacturers need greater capacity without necessarily adding more machines or floor space. Grand Twin addresses this by combining two independently controlled X-beams in a single machine,” the manufacturer told ISMR.
“ Each X-beam has its own PanelOne ® control system, allowing two jobs to run simultaneously. When larger components need to be processed, one beam can be parked and the two working zones combined into one continuous cutting area,” it added.
The first Grand Twin is an NCG 3090 Twin with a 3 x 9m cutting table, configurable as two separate 3 x 4m working zones or one continuous cutting area of approximately 3 x 8.5m.
“ We received an enquiry from a customer in Norway asking if we could develop a machine with dual X-beams. Together with

the customer, we developed a solution that combines high productivity with the flexibility to adapt the machine to different production requirements,” explained Christian Svensson, Sales Manager, Water Jet Sweden.
Each side operates independently while both working zones are integrated into a common safety system. When the full table is required, one X-beam is parked clear of the cutting area, providing access to the machine’ s full largeformat capacity.
Grand Twin builds on Water Jet Sweden’ s established Grand platform, a heavy-duty machine concept developed for demanding production environments and components ranging from smaller parts to large and irregular workpieces. The system also retains the multi-head capabilities of the Grand range, including options such as the Beveljet 60 five-axis cutting system. A key element of the design, said WJS, is the linear drive system on the Y-axes.
“ Our design enables the construction of machines exceeding 25m in length without compromising the required positioning accuracy. The patented gantry design is engineered to ensure consistent precision, regardless of the machine length,” explained Christian Svensson.
“ The strength of the Grand Twin concept lies in its ability to adapt to the job at hand. Manufacturers can run two independent jobs when throughput is the priority, then switch to large-format cutting when oversized components require the full table,” added the company.

Scalable handling and finishing workflow
A strong finishing process isn’ t just about the result, but the entire workflow surrounding it. With its Qubes, Q-Fin brings handling and finishing together into one scalable production flow.
“ Sheet metal parts are automatically loaded, moved, finished, turned and unloaded, allowing machines to remain productive for longer and operators to focus their attention where it is truly needed. The Qube 15-Line has now been nominated for the EuroBLECH Award 2026 in the‘ Automation & Smart Factory’ category,” the Dutch manufacturer told ISMR.
“ Automated handling should not determine how you produce but adapt to the flow required by your production. The Qubes are modular handling solutions for the automatic loading, unloading, stacking and moving of sheet metal parts around a finishing line. Depending upon product weight, available space, required capacity and desired level of autonomy, a suitable configuration can be created,” added Q-Fin.
Automation can therefore start small, for example by adding batch tables or a rotator,
and later be expanded with automatic loading and unloading. In this way, the handling solution grows alongside production without losing sight of flexibility on the floor. The Qubes have been developed to handle different product types, sizes and production environments.
“ All Qubes are equipped as standard with EYE-Q vision technology for recognising, picking and positioning sheet metal parts. Through Q-Connect, the handling system can also be connected to ERP systems and production data. This allows handling, finishing and data to work together within one integrated process,” outlined Q-Fin.
The Qubes can switch between automatic mode and manual mode, while their open design keeps the finishing line accessible when specific parts need to be processed manually or, for example, with an overhead crane. The value of automated handling ultimately lies in maintaining the right flow.
“ Depending upon the application, a single Qube can handle both loading and unloading. Fully automated double-sided finishing is also possible. Parts are automatically loaded, finished, turned and unloaded within one continuous production flow. This does not remove operators from the process. By automating repetitive handling tasks, more time becomes available for process monitoring, resolving deviations and carrying out work where their knowledge and experience add value,” said Q-Fin.
IQ-Fin’ s SER Ultimate Qombination has been nominated in the‘ Joining, Surface Treatment & Quality Control’ category for the EuroBLECH Awards 2026. Meet Q-Fin on stand F88 in Hall 12 at EuroBLECH( 20-23 October 2026 in Hanover, Germany). n
