JR: Sustainability is fundamentally embedded in our manufacturing-oriented approach. Our robust unfolding system directly reduces waste by ensuring parts are manufacturable the first time, eliminating scrap from poor CAD-to-production translation. Our calculation software takes this further by enabling precise material optimisation— customers can simulate manufacturing alternatives and minimise material requirements, which creates significant environmental benefits when working with steel and aluminium at scale.
Perhaps most importantly, we help sheetmetal fabricators work more efficiently with their existing equipment and processes, extending the useful life of manufacturing assets rather than driving unnecessary replacement. Sustainable manufacturing isn’ t just about new machines and technologies: it’ s about optimising what already exists.
ISMR: Is there anything else that you wish to add?
JR: Our greatest challenge, and opportunity, is visibility. When a well-known machine
manufacturer offers software, it’ s often implemented without evaluation simply because of brand recognition. We must first earn our way into consideration and prove our competence. But here’ s what we’ ve learned over 45 years: once a customer implements SPI software, they don’ t give it up. This loyalty comes from our ability to solve real problems, rather than just check software requirement boxes.
What makes this possible is our company culture. My professional background is completely outside this industry so, from the beginning, I’ ve relied on my employees’ competencies and judgment. This creates empowerment that directly impacts customer experience. You can feel the passion and wealth of ideas from our team in our products and service.
