Automated coil packing line for aluminum producer
Biele, a specialist in tailor-made solutions for handling, stacking and packing steel and aluminum flat products and coils, has confirmed the successful commissioning of a fully automated coil packing line to a leading aluminum producer in South America.
“ Specifically designed for aluminum coils, this line marks a major step forward in the customer’ s packaging process, ensuring consistent quality in the final product. The system features a dualfunction approach: edge protection using cardboard profiles and thermal insulation with recyclable, low-density polyethylene, wrapped with stretch film. The process design ensures that no adhesives are in contact with the product,” said Biele.
Capable of processing up to 10 coils per hour, the line accommodates a wide range of coil dimensions and alloys for flexibility and efficiency. The equipment includes, among others, dual wraparound protection machines on which several protection elements are applied simultaneously. Gantry portals are equipped with specific designed robotic gripper heads for pallet feeding and top protection application, as well as strapping for the complete package, and there are systems to turn the coil orientation from‘ eye-to-side’ to‘ eye-to-sky’.
“ The performance of the line is enhanced through Biele Operation Advisor advanced software, which seamlessly connects the ERP with the entire production flow, monitors critical process variables and ensures precise, unit-level traceability. This results in a smarter, more efficient and fully connected manufacturing environment. With this installation, we have strengthened our presence in the Americas and reinforced our role as a trusted partner for the aluminum industry,” added Biele.
