LAMIERA ’ s ‘ bright side ’ of metal forming
From 6-9 May 2025 , fieramilano Rho in Milan ( Italy ) will host the twenty-third edition of LAMIERA , an international exhibition dedicated to sheet metal forming and cutting machine tools / technologies .
Promoted by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE ( the Italian machine tools , robots and automation systems manufacturers ’ association ) and organised by CEU-CENTRO ESPOSIZIONI UCIMU , LAMIERA is the only trade fair in Italy exclusively dedicated to the metal forming sector .
“ In the world of sheet metal forming and cutting , Italy holds second position in the world ranking of production and exports ( and third in consumption ),” said UCIMU .
The trade show ’ s slogan is ‘ The Bright Side of Metal Forming ’. It will feature six technological themes such as ‘ Fabbrica Future ’ ( software and technologies for connectivity , data management and automation and digital systems / robotics applied to sheet metal processing ); Saldatech ( welding ) and Fastener Industry ( screws , bolts , fastening and clamping systems ).
‘ World of Heat and Surface Treatments ’ will host machines , systems , accessories and consumables focused on pre- and postproduction treatments for ferrous and nonferrous materials . ‘ Metrology and Testing ’ will be centred on testing , measuring and quality-control systems and machines while ‘ BLECH Italy Service ’ will cover technical subcontracting and services .
In addition , LAMIERA will offer a ‘ Revamping and Retrofitting ’ area focused on machines and equipment that have been revamped and equipped with new functionalities to meet the needs of a market that is complementary to that of “ new machinery ”.
“ In the Italian exhibition [ world ],” said Alfredo Mariotti , general manager of UCIMU , “ LAMIERA is the only event dedicated
exclusively to machines for cutting , processing and forming sheet metal . The high quality on show and the attention focused , through the innovative exhibition themes , on new leading technologies in the industry make the trade fair , year after year , more relevant and appealing nationally and internationally ”.

Strong growth for electric vehicles to 2030
According to a new electric vehicle global forecast report published by MarketsandMarkets , the global electric vehicle market size is projected to grow from US $ 396.4 billion in 2024 to US $ 620.3 billion by 2030 , at a CAGR of 7.7 %.
“ A combination of environmental , economic and technological factors is propelling the global market for electric vehicles to grow at an unprecedented rate . To reduce emissions , consumer demand , as well as strict governmental regulation aimed at reducing emissions , has made people and manufacturers adopt more sustainable modes of transport . Improvements in battery technology have improved the performance , range and charging efficiency of electric vehicles , making them more practical and attractive . Such developments and significant investments by major automakers , alongside startups , are driving the global uptake of EVs ,” said the analyst .
The report found that rising demand for enhanced performance and fast charging will support market growth .
“ The electric vehicle revolution is not only transforming personal mobility but is also rapidly altering the merchant shipping landscape . Companies are increasingly turning to EVs to cut costs , meet sustainability goals and comply with stringent environmental regulations . This shift is reflected in many industries including logistics , public transport , utilities and retail . Fuel costs for EVs are significantly lower in comparison to gasolineor diesel-powered vehicles . Fewer moving parts and no oil changes also mean less maintenance is required , dropping the ultimate cost of using them ,” commented the analyst .
The analyst expects Europe to become the second largest growing market in size for electric vehicles during the forecast period . Countries such as Norway ; Germany ; the United Kingdom ; France and the Netherlands are advocating for change by providing targets on when they will ban ICE vehicles , highlighting clean energy solutions .
“ Recent emerging issues have also helped to spur the market in Europe . The availability of charging points has significantly determined

this aspect , with massive contributions from public and private entities to provide a reach of good and quick charging stations . Advancements in batteries have also formed part of this equation with increased ranges , shorter charging time and lower costs [ leading consumers ] towards EVs . The growing number of low-emission zones and urban restrictions for polluting vehicles across major European cities is also forcing the trend towards electromobility ,” added the analyst . n
