FOCUS ON FOLDERS

handles radius step bending , which involves pressing the sheet metal with the clamping beam against an angle formed by the bottom beam and the folding beam . This creates a slight curve . This is now repeated in fine steps as often as required . The result is a rounded sheet that shows no signs of its gradual reshaping ,” added The Schröder Group .
With the EVO DuoBend , the Schröder Group has increased the flexibility of its up-and-down technology . The new folding machine for up to 5mm thick sheets has two independently operating folding beams . This unlocks new possibilities for manufacturing large-format products with opposing bends . EVO DuoBend was presented at Blechexpo last November in Germany .
“ In special applications , the simplified handling results in enormous time savings and increased efficiency . Large trapezoidal sheets can be produced with two folding beams in one tenth of the time required with a single up-and-down folding beam ,” said the manufacturer .
The EVO DuoBend is available in working lengths of 4040mm and 3200mm . As standard , this machine is equipped with a fully automatic tool changer on the clamping beam , which can be equipped with up to 500mm high tools . The machine is programmed with Schröder ’ s own POS 3000 control system .
The Schröder Group consists of Hans Schröder Maschinenbau GmbH in Wessobrunn-Forst ( Germany ), SCHRÖDERFASTI Technologie GmbH ( Wermelskirchen , Germany ) and SMU GmbH ( Leinburg-Weißenbrunn , Germany ).
Sucorema is a Portuguese company dedicated to the manufacture of machines and systems for the sheet metal industry under its own brand , Stefa . With over two decades of experience in designing and producing its own machines , it specialises in long folding machines , rollformers and cut-tolength / slitting lines . Its Stefa VH long folder features rounded “ C ” arms to ensure enough pressure for hemming .

Australian manufacturer , SWI Machinery , offers a range that includes Simplex & Duplex folders ; Marxman slitters ; integrated cutto-length lines ; uncoilers ; recoilers ; multistation uncoilers ; rollformers and complete customised process lines . SWI ’ s latest model Duplex folder incorporates dozens of advances in control and mechanical design . The folder is used by roofing fabricators worldwide .
“ Our Duplex folders are built for speed and durability . When designing the Duplex , we listened to what our customers wanted from an up & down folder ,” it explained .

“ Our Simplex folder is fast , simple and flexible enough to be used even by the most inexperienced operators .”
Variobend-ASCO GmbH has set itself the task of developing innovative long-length bending machines . It was able to develop into one of the worldwide leading manufacturers of long-length bending machines ( see also Hershey ’ s Metal Meister entry in this article ). It created its patented VARIOBEND bending system .
“ The new Variobend V 2.5 is 100 % electric . Thanks to the new bending geometry with 300 degrees of free space , profiles with an aspect ratio of 1:2 can also be produced without any problems . The closed frame profile ensures that the V2.5 no longer has to be anchored to the workshop floor . The machine can be adjusted perfectly to uneven floors using narrowly positioned adjustable feet ,” said the manufacturer .
“ The bending of narrow counter edges of 12mm is also standard on the new V 2.5 . A maximum bending angle of 150 degrees and the typical Variobend inclined bending beams for even more space round off the innovative overall package and enable the production of even more demanding profiles for the facades of the future ,” it added .
A newly introduced DP system ( Dynamic Pressure Regulation ) allows the clamping pressure to be individually adjusted on each stand . Other Variobend models include the DB Up / Down folder and the EB long-length folder . n
