Enquiries Athader , a Bradbury Group company , is a leading manufacturer of coil processing lines . Based in San Sebastian , Spain , it has been manufacturing slitting ; cut-to-length levelling and recoiling lines as well as coil / sheet automated packaging systems for 30 years .
In the last three years , Athader and Leveltek have completed five projects for cut-tolength lines with stretch levelling machines incorporated into the lines : three of them in Europe and two in Australia . Athader and Leveltek can provide new cut-to-length lines and retrofits of cut-to-length lines . The stretch leveller and flying shear fit into new or existing cut-to-length lines .
“ Our success in the North American market continues with several slitting lines , a coil packaging line and a coil-to-coil edge trimming and levelling line for aluminium products supplied in 2022 and 2023 . We are currently manufacturing several heavy gauge lines for the USA , Mexico and Canada ,” it told ISMR .
To better serve the North American market , Athader has positioned service technicians and spare parts at the Bradbury Group head office in Kansas ( USA ).
“ Our stretch leveller eliminates visible shape defects such as edge waves , centre buckles , quarter buckles or oil can and mandrel breaks . The Leveltek Process also eliminates ‘ Memory ’, the distortion that can occur in cut parts after laser or plasma cutting of visibly flat sheets . The only measurable effect on the coil is a slight reduction in material width , and a slight increase in length ,” commented Athader .

The stretch levelling involves the coil being uncoiled , stretch-levelled and either recoiled or cut-to-length . Through a Leveltek proprietary , non-marking process that grips and stretches the unrolled coil , Athader ’ s equipment is designed to eliminate shape defects and not mark or scratch the surface being stretched .
Leveltek ’ s stretch leveller stretches the strip with the required force to exceed the yield strength and permanently elongate it . Even with materials that can be flattened using other methods , its process provides a high standard of flatness for critical or special surfaces that are bright annealed ; polished ; painted ; patterned ; plated or coated . Leveltek can process various coil materials in a wide range of thicknesses and widths .
