Networking for success
With 826 exhibitors from 40 nations and 40,000 trade visitors from 124 countries , the SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN trade show for joining , cutting and surfacing technology took place over five intensive days from 11-15 September 2023 at Messe Essen , Germany . The event revolved around innovations , investments , networking and knowledge transfer .
“ The atmosphere in our exhibition halls was excellent . After the pandemic-related break , it was noticeable how much the industry appreciated this platform . Many companies reported concentrated and successful sales talks to us ; they are also expecting good post-exhibition business ,” said Oliver P . Kuhrt , CEO of Messe Essen . “ In addition to the high international [ quotient ], the procurement competence of trade visitors was particularly impressive ,” he added .
Overall , 66 per cent of exhibiting companies came from outside Germany . Countries included China ; France ; Japan ; South Korea ; Taiwan and the USA . Almost
150 Chinese exhibitors , occupying an area of 3,500 square metres , were at the trade show . A time-lapse video of the trade fair set-up and a compilation of impressions garnered over 7.8 million views and more than 206,000 likes on Messe Essen ’ s Instagram feed .
Visitors in focus
Around 83 per cent of all trade visitors were involved in purchasing decisions in their companies , said the trade show organiser .
“ Various specialists from the steel , mechanical engineering and vehicle construction sectors ( as well as from the wholesale , service and energy sectors ) visited the show to discover new solutions or to place orders . A third of all visitors used the trade fair to make or prepare investments , and the average order volume increased significantly compared to the previous event . Innovations from numerous areas were in demand . After all , the industry is the driving force for many other sectors of the economy , such as automotive or architecture ,” it added .
“ In 2022 , the production value of German welding technology alone amounted to a total of 4.11 billion euros ; a new record .”

Digitalisation and networking play a decisive role in the industry ’ s future orientation . Smart robot systems that work hand-in-hand and carry out diverse process steps efficiently were on display , as were systems that create digital twins and enable optimisation using real-time data .
