FACE TO FACE

Eagle Lasers ’ showroom in Germany .
As of today , our Eagle iNspire machines are equipped with a 30kW fibre laser power source , 6G acceleration and a nine-second pallet changer , making them one of the fastest and most reliable on the market . Other highquality components include linear motors on all axes , a carbon-fibre traverse and the wellknown eVa cutting head .
ISMR : Which issues are of prime importance to your customers ? How are you addressing these issues for them ?
CB : Our clients are very demanding and clear about what they want , and we like that . It keeps us on our toes , working on continuous improvements to fulfil their needs .
Some of their primary focus points are increased productivity ; reduced costs and downtime ; increased worker safety ; higher precision and repeatability ; higher speeds and better control over the whole operation . Security and reliability are also obviously expected .
We understand that efficiency can only be attained through control and automation of every step of the manufacturing cycle . All processes must work almost seamlessly , from transporting the metal sheet to material loading and unloading , sorting and storing cut parts . Peak productivity lies in the swiftness of the cycle which should work almost in sync . with few interruptions .
Security and reliability are at the core of our systems , and we make no compromises when it comes to component suppliers . We don ’ t cut corners here and are committed to selecting only the best brands for all machine elements that are not Eagle-manufactured .
ISMR : What is your strategic focus / vision over the next few years ?
CB : There ’ s a clear path in front of us when we look ahead . For the last ten years , we have dedicated our research to developing ultra-efficient solutions through high-powered lasers .
We started the ‘ Higher Power , Higher Profits ’ campaign a few years back when it was a disruptive idea . Today , we can see the market is moving towards our initial proposal by increasing the supply of high-powered systems .
The current trend in manufacturing companies is twofold . On the one hand , there ’ s an ever-increasing need for higher productivity while , on the other , the tendency towards higher-quality customised products is also growing . We clearly see a growing demand for high-mix / low-volume manufacturing in a constantly changing environment . Within this landscape , our efforts are focused on providing our clients with intelligent solutions that enable them to achieve higher productivity and efficiency in a fully controlled environment , while fulfilling this diversified demand .
To me , the future is clearly about implementing increasingly smart automation systems . Through them , manufacturers tackle several issues simultaneously , from fewer manual labour requirements to increased precision . The more advanced these systems are , the faster they can produce , and the more flexible they become in terms of product range . We already see a drastic increase in productivity through automated material handling and material exchange ; unsupervised production ; remote monitoring ; predictive maintenance and many other processes .
Our goal is to continue developing and perfecting these systems which are not only productivity boosters but also act as a reliable connection between warehouse and production and ensure repeatability and precision . We want our solutions to contribute to achieving the balancing act between profitability and reliability , as well as creating a new business model .
