Planar system called AOI ( Area of Interest ). This option uses lights above the part to see and verify the 2D dimensions of features that only appear on the object ’ s surface . This could be the outer diameter of a counter sink or the location , diameter and presence of a pin or insert .
As the AOI option uses 2D images without the need for 3D scanning , it is still extremely rapid .
ISMR : How are you leveraging technologies such as artificial intelligence , Big Data , AR , VR , robotics etc . for your business ?
JA : Our new Guidance and Verification technology is designed to learn how to perform a welding or assembly operation by watching a human perform the task . This requires machine learning . It then uses Augmented Reality ( AR ), rather than Virtual Reality ( VR ), to guide the next operator through the learned task . Augmented reality is a much more practical approach in a shopfloor environment than virtual reality . The system projects vital and pertinent information onto the part and work area . It does not require a headset or goggles .
Augmented reality has been a fairly important part of our products for a while . Anything that can help our users to understand the inspection results saves time and mistakes .

our systems is that we can connect remotely and support a customer anywhere in the world .
Inspection is an often overlooked , but necessary , part of automation . We see our solutions as playing a vital role in delivering real-time information to our customers and helping them to develop a connected factory .
