ISMR : Are there any products / technologies that you have released this year , or are releasing at EuroBLECH in Hanover , that you would like to discuss ?
FM : Our flagship product , recently presented to the market , is the coil-fed , combination “ EffiCOIL ” machine . Compact and able to offer high levels of production flexibility , speed and machining precision , EffiCOIL is a combined punching / laser machine . It incorporates a lasercutting system with a smooth sheet-metal support surface , with no fixed slat bed (“ bed of nails ” or “ flatbed ”). This feature improves cutting quality and avoids the frequent replacements and levels of maintenance required by using slats .
The laser-cutting system consists of two mobile units with reduced dimensions ( cuttinghead and fume / metal scrap extraction unit ) which operate synchronously . The punching system has no bulky metal structures and offers reduced dimensions ; extreme production flexibility ( thanks to indexed tools ); high speeds ( reduced weight ) and precision . The two production systems interact ( punching / forming and laser cutting ) on a single coil-fed machine . This means the ability to process and produce workpieces of any shape , with virtually unlimited lengths . The punching and laser-cutting units can operate alternately over the same work area on the same workpiece .

ISMR : Where do you see the greatest challenges and opportunities ?
FM : To make headway in the global market , you need to compete effectively and confront complex realities . This is true for every production sector , not just for sheet-metal coil processing . To overcome challenges in global markets , build opportunities and be competitive , you need to offer innovative projects that use advanced technology . You also need to conduct continuous research and development initiatives to acquire the relevant technological expertise .
I believe it is necessary to study the needs that potential customers express and provide solutions that comply with the requirements set by the market . The best opportunities come from the most challenging markets . For this , you need competence ; reliability and organisational capacity which all spring directly from investments made in research , development and continuous training .
