FACE TO FACE
Coil-feeding benefits
Coil feeding , as a convenient solution , offers various advantages for manufacturers . These include :
■ Material optimisation . Users can purchase raw material at lower costs and will handle less waste material thanks to nesting . This means reduced production costs .
■ A complete and automated line means that users do not need to keep loading and unloading the machine with metal sheet ( making production much faster ).
ISMR : Which issues are of prime importance for your customers ? How are you addressing these issues for them ?
FM : The requirements that our customers highlight to us are mainly linked to the challenge of responding quickly to the production needs of the market and , therefore , require strong flexibility . More and more “ just in time ” production is requested as well as the ability to produce different workpieces that make up individual orders without machine tooling , raw material waste or the need for heavy labour – all of which greatly affect production costs .
We offer coil-fed systems that work with different technologies combined on a single machine which enable , through nesting , the production of components distributed from coil with unlimited length , no head / tail waste and no need for continuous sheet-metal part loading . Laser-cutting systems and mechanical tools can be operated on the same machine so that different workpieces can be produced and unloaded automatically with no need for the continuous presence of operators and with limited raw material waste .
All this translates into speed of response to customer needs , production flexibility and strong economic savings . Our coil-processing systems , with various servo machines for the management of the sheet-metal roll and the unloading and palletising of the workpieces produced , enable the fully automated production of metal components . This means no downtime as well as cost- , space- and time savings . These systems meet customer needs for extreme flexibility in relation to high productivity performance , offering different power versions with maximum widths of the coil to be processed .
ISMR : What is your strategic focus / vision over the next few years ?
FM : We aim to develop new versions of our machines and innovations . After developing the first coil-fed punching machines , covered by international patents ( which use mechanical tools ), we have now developed a new optical fibre , coil-fed laser system .
More recent is the design and development of a unique combination machine which combines the two technologies ( fibre laser cutting and punching / deformation with mechanical tools ) with direct coil feeding . It is our strategic objective to enhance this production method , obtain finished components with the required processes
Coil processing enables users to reduce waste material and purchase costs , while increasing productivity in terms of number of pieces produced . There are also sustainable benefits as less raw material is used , hazardous emissions can be reduced and directdrive engines mean lower frequency of changed parts .
