Intelligent plasma-cutting processes
Kjellberg Finsterwalde Plasma und Maschinen GmbH has developed products made in Germany for 100 years . It has been producing plasma-cutting systems for a wide range of cutting tasks for over 60 years .
“ These products make it possible to achieve excellent results for automated , mechanised or manual cutting . Our latest products include the Q-Series inverter power source . It combines precision plasmacutting with complex requirements . The Kjellberg-developed , browser-based HMI Q-Desk provides realtime process data and information from all system components on standard devices , regardless of location . Users can transfer and

process all data via the MQTT protocol using the Ethernet interface ,” said the company .
As the smallest model in the Q-series , the Q 1500 plasma cuts material thicknesses of up to 60mm with a maximum cutting current of 150A . The Q 3000 and Q 3000 plus plasma-cutting systems cut and mark material thicknesses of up to 80mm with a maximum cutting current of 300A . Because of their modular design , machine performance of the Q 1500 plus and Q 3000 plus can be upgraded to suit customer requirements .
“ Q-Hole technology enables users to make precise holes in mild steel with a diameterto-material thickness ratio of 0.75:1 . Our patent-pending ‘ ProPierce ’ process is offered exclusively for the Q series . It increases the previous maximum piercing capacity by 10mm in mild steel and by up to 30mm in stainlesssteel and aluminium . The new technological process offers the user more flexibility . No process change , additional equipment or new consumables are required ,” confirmed the manufacturer .
With its carbon footprint , Kjellberg ’ s Q plasma power source makes a demonstrable contribution to climate protection . Daily live demonstrations of the system can be seen at Kjellberg ’ s stand D112 in Hall 13 at the EuroBLECH trade fair in Hanover , Germany ( 25-28 October 2022 ). n

Straight down the line
Italian coil-processing specialist , Saronni Srl , has expanded its range of straightener machines .
“ We developed our straightening portfolio to address the difficulties of processing high-strength materials with wide thickness ranges and challenging flatness tolerances . Our solution , with multiple straightening rolls ( 9-21 ); counter-rolls at different levels ( 4-hi or 6-hi levellers ) and automation , enables our customers to meet their production goals ,” it told ISMR .
“ This expanded range of equipment offers significant performance increases and cost reductions . It also means that the most suitable solution , to fit the specific requirements of each customer , can be chosen so that no ‘ oversized ’ or
‘ over-specified ’ machines are supplied . This benefit is particularly clear on smaller production lines ( e . g . for processing magnetic steel ),” it added .
The manufacturer was keen to add that all the existing features ( e . g . the ASA automatic straightening adjustment proprietary software ) and options on the Saronni lines are still available and , over the last few years , have been upgraded with the latest available technologies .
The company , which celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2020 , produces feeding and cut-to-length lines . With lines installed all over the world and hundreds of customers active ( mainly in the automotive and household-
appliance sectors ), Saronni supplies customers looking for automated systems with high technological content . Its main products include coil-feeding lines for presses ( short and long versions ) which incorporate decoilers ; straighteners ; levellers ; feeders etc . It also offers blanking , cut-to-length , embossing and disc-cutting lines .
