Social responsibility , with an accent on health and safety as well as sustainability , are important elements of Kemppi ’ s modern welding philosophy .

Kemppi Oy is a design specialist in the arc welding industry . It supplies advanced products , digital solutions and services for professionals from industrial welding companies to single contractors . It operates with a highly skilled partner network covering over 70 countries . Headquartered in Lahti , Finland , Kemppi employs close to 800 professionals in 17 countries and has a revenue of 140 million euros .

Equipment must also be practical ; functional ; ergonomic ; safe ; reliable and cost-effective – while still maintaining an aesthetic appeal , Kemppi told ISMR . Its new slogan , ‘ Designed for Welders ’ crystallises this commitment . Around ten per cent of its annual turnover is devoted to R & D initiatives .

The business climate
Hegemann outlined several welding trends and global market movements that are affecting Kemppi ’ s business .
“ In the last couple of years , the welding industry has been driven by increases in disposable incomes in emerging markets and there still is a
strong demand for four- and two-wheeler vehicles . Nevertheless , in the automotive industry and according to Tier One / Two suppliers , we see changes in demand ( such as welding lighter and different parts ) because of the move towards e-mobility ,” he explained .
“ Construction manufacturing industries have experienced high growth in the last couple of years and rapid industrialisation in developing countries has also driven welding growth . We believe that global infrastructure programmes / projects and logistics will be key drivers for our market . Cost reductions ; the need for increasing productivity ; reduction in resources ; the use of more lightweight materials and more efficient product designs are key trends facing our customers .
