WEMO targets North America
After successfully presenting its automated panel bending line at the FABTECH exhibition ( Chicago , USA ) in October 2019 , and navigating the challenges of COVID-19 , EMO is now reinforcing its strategic position in the North American market . The Dutch machinery specialist is partnering with AMI-service and MetalReady machinery to develop sales and support infrastructure in the United States for WEMO products .
“ AMI-service is already servicing the installed base of machinery that WEMO has built up in the past 22 years in the U . S . market . Our new strategic partner , MetalReady Machinery , will further shape our proactive market approach from a commercial perspective and help customers , in close cooperation with WEMO ’ s head office , to find a solution that best fits their business case ,” WEMO told ISMR .
“ At FABTECH , visitors confirmed that there
is a huge need for sheet metal processing automation , high output and flexible products in the U . S . market . Our initial growth plans for the U . S . market were hampered by COVID-19 restrictions but confidence in the economy has now returned and exponential market growth is expected ,” it added .
WEMO offers solutions to the North American market in areas such as shelving ; steel cabinets ; steel doors ; ceiling tiles and wall systems . It designs , builds , sells and services fast and flexible production lines for processing sheet metal : punching , bending , joining and software . It has been organising WEMO Demo Days over September and October 2021 at its facility in Hertogenbosch ( The Netherlands ), where manufacturers can see their products bent live on the WEMO Panel Bending Line ( PBL ).

The water margin
CMS Metal Technology offers a wide range of complete waterjet cutting systems , pressure intensifiers and dry or wet deburring and satin finishing machines . Since the 1990s , thanks to the acquisition of Tecnocut and continuous internal developments , it now boasts more than 1,500 installations worldwide across various industry sectors such as automotive ; aerospace ; machining ; furniture and industrial architecture .
The company has now launched its CMS Tecnocut Proline , a compact , sturdy single-block design waterjet cutting system . Designed for high productivity and versatility , as well as accuracy and repeatability , the system also focuses on operator safety in the working environment .
“ Tecnocut Proline features a stainless steel tank that can include an optional retrofit dredge ; pipe rotary axis ; automatic water level system and 5-axis calibration TCP . Front and rear automated hatches protect the operator and create a cleaner working environment . A laser line projector easily and rapidly checks the alignment of the material
with respect to the cutting X-axis . A video camera , integrated into the Z-axis , captures the cutting area to accurately determine the origin of the work ,” explained CMS .
“ The machine is accurate with positioning precision and axes repeatability of +/ - 0.035mm and +/ - 0.025mm , respectively , to meet the most demanding cutting applications ,” it added . “ It also guarantees 35 % less floor space , due to the electric intensifier style pump integrated into the machine frame , and a 33 % shorter cutting cycle with the JD5 5-axis head . Users can also enjoy an 85 % reduction in costs to remove and dispose of used abrasive via our new dredge . The system features up to two 4150 bar ( 60K PSI ) integrated electric intensifiers for maximum cutting versatility ,” it added .
High-speed blanking
The Balconi Press model 2DMRV-315 ( 3150kN ) is designed for the high-speed blanking of high-strength steel parts . Offering high structural rigidity to reduce wear on punches and dies , it blanks material thicknesses of up to 7mm at a speed of 200spm .
“ Since the blanking presses use a reduced ram stroke ( in this case , 70mm ), we have equipped this machine with a hydraulic device for quick ram opening of 100mm ( Quick- Lift ). This allows the operator to check the condition of the die and remove any scrap material without having to unload the tool or adjust the ram ,” said the Italian stamping specialist .
There are two separate lubrication systems , one for the crown and the other for the ram guides . The press features a Balconi electronic feed system and a pilot release controlled by a servomotor . A mechanical shear , connected to the press shaft , cuts the skeleton at each press stroke or after a certain number of strokes programmed by the operator .
“ Industry 4.0 standard software enables preventive diagnostics , remote diagnostics and Big Data exchange . Optional accessories include spring shock-absorbers ; a quick die change system and sensors for dynamic control of blanking ,” added Balconi .
