LAMIERA highlights market trends
LAMIERA , the international exhibition dedicated to sheet metal forming and cutting machine tools and technologies , will take place from 6-9 May 2025 in Milan , Italy .
LAMIERA is organised by CEU- CENTRO ESPOSIZIONI UCIMU and promoted by UCIMU- SISTEMI PER PRODURRE ( the Italian machine tools , robotics and automation system manufacturer ’ s association ).
Italian metal forming and cutting trends
At a meeting during the EuroBLECH exhibition in Germany this October , chaired by Filippo Gasparini ( VP of UCIMU ), Riccardo Gaslini ( UCIMU ’ s exhibition manager ) outlined Italian metal forming market trends as well as the latest LAMIERA news .
“ In the world of sheet metalforming and cutting , Italy takes second place in the world ranking of production and exports , and third place in consumption ( 2023 data ). With a production of 3.4 billion euros , up 8 % on 2023 , the Italian metal forming machinery and technology industry consolidated its second position in the world ranking of manufacturers . It came second , after China , but ahead of Germany ,” Gaslini explained .

performance in the overseas market ( with an increase of almost 30 % in exports to a value of 1.8 billion euros ) in 2023 , Italy again took second place in the international rankings after China and before Germany ,” he added .
According to Gaslini , Italy came third in the international consumption rankings ( -7.6 %, 1.9 billion euros ) in 2023 . Despite this fall , Italy is one of the most important consumer markets worldwide , after China and the United States .
Filippo Gasparini added : “ We expected weak performance , starting in 2023 and confirmed in 2024 which , according to our new forecasts , will stop as early as 2025 thanks to the availability of the new Transition 5.0 law in Italy .”

According to new forecasts by Oxford Economics for the entire machine-tool industry sector ( metal cutting and metalforming machines ), 2024 is expected to be a complicated year for the world sector industry , but “ recovery is expected in 2025 and confirmed for 2026 ”, said UCIMU .
“ In this recovery context , also confirmed for 2026 , Italy will show strong resilience . After the downturn in 2024 , and already in 2025 , we will see a significant rebound in demand for investment in new production technologies by Italian users ( accounting for 10.5 %, to reach 3.8 billion euros ). This positive trend should continue even in 2026 , although at a slower pace (+ 4.2 %, 3.9 billion euros ),” outlined UCIMU .

LAMIERA in focus
“ LAMIERA is the only trade fair in Italy exclusively dedicated to the metal forming sector . SALDATECH will offer an overview of the wide and diversified world of welding . FASTENER INDUSTRY will showcase screws , bolts , fastening and clamping systems . WORLD OF HEAT AND SURFACE TREATMENTS will host machines , systems , accessories and consumables focused on pre- and post-production treatments , for ferrous and non-ferrous materials . METROLOGY & TESTING will centre on testing , measurement and qualitycontrol systems and machines . BLECH ITALY SERVICE will cover technical subcontracting and services for the sector ,” he continued .
In addition , starting this year , LAMIERA will include a ‘ Revamping and Retrofitting ’ area focused on machines and equipment that have been refurbished and equipped with new functionalities to meet the needs of a market that is complementary to that of “ new machinery ”. LAMIALAMIERA , the event area of the trade fair , will also hold a programme of meetings on relevant topics for the sector . n
