The TruBend Cell 5000 Lean Edition .
An eye on automation
TRUMPF presented a new automated bending cell for the mid-range price segment at this November ’ s Blechexpo trade show in Stuttgart . The TruBend Cell 5000 Lean Edition can operate without human intervention for around eight hours , depending upon the geometry of the parts being produced .
“ Automation is one of the biggest trends that we ’ re seeing in bending going forward . For users on a limited budget , the TruBend Cell 5000 Lean Edition is an excellent way to get started with automated bending and make production more competitive ,” said Simon Hiebl , who heads product management for bending systems and premium solutions at TRUMPF .
To create the new TruBend Cell 5000 Lean Edition , the TRUMPF engineers drew on tried-and-tested hardware and software solutions , including its BendMaster bending robot and TruTops Boost programming software . TRUMPF offers the TruBend Cell 5000 Lean Edition in two variants , each of which can be supplied either with or without the small-parts package . With the basic variant , fabricators can process parts ranging in size from A4 to a Euro-pallet format . By adding the small-parts package , they can also bend small parts of a similar size to a business card .
The new machine is suitable for manufacturing small to mid-sized parts , such as electric charge points , control cabinets and PC housings . The bending cell is also simple to program using the intuitive interface of TRUMPF ’ s TruTops
Boost software . Users can accommodate two different grippers inside the bending cell , which makes switching the machine from one part to another fast , flexible and automatic . TRUMPF launched both variants of this new solution at Blechexpo .
Automated panel bending
TRUMPF ’ s stand at the Blechexpo exhibition also showcased a new robotic bending solution developed in collaboration with its automation specialist partner , Starmatik . The solution , developed for systems supplier
Kuipers , features two robots from Starmatik which work simultaneously to load and unload TRUMPF ’ s TruBend Center 7020 panel-bending machine .
“ This reduces the cycle time for loading by up to 50 per cent . The machine itself includes new high-speed functionalities that can boost productivity by up to 30 per cent . Equipped with this automation solution from Starmatik , the TruBend Center 7020 is one of the world ’ s fastest solutions for automated bending , offering efficient results for both volume production and prototypes ,” TRUMPF told ISMR .
Starmatik ’ s automation solution features two robots that simultaneously load and unload the TruBend Center 7020 .
