InspecVision ’ s managing director , Dr . Jan Antonis , outlines his view of sheet metal markets , trends and and technology advances to ISMR .

InspecVision designs , manufactures and sells vision systems for automated inspection and reverse engineering . It specialises in the design and manufacturing of measurement systems for industrial applications that utilise computer vision-based technology , with roots that originated in the sheet metal industry . The company is a TRUMPF Partner and was awarded the prestigious Queen ’ s Award for Enterprise in International Trade in 2021 for its export performance .
Its 2D and 3D non-contact optical metrology machines use modern camera technology for automatic quality inspection and reverse engineering of components for industries such as aerospace , automotive and electronics . Its precision metrology equipment captures large quantities of measurement data at high speed without touching the part to enable faster rates of inspection , digitised reporting and continuous quality control at all stages of production .
The founder and managing director of the company , Dr . Jan Antonis , carried out advanced research in computer vision systems at Queens University Belfast and saw a gap in the market for a system which could measure parts quickly and easily . Sales of the Planar inspection system , for quality control and reverse engineering applications , began in 2005 . InspecVision products are now sold in over 30 countries worldwide . In this interview , he outlines his view of sheet metal markets , trends , technology advances and new project developments .
ISMR : Please highlight any particular successes and achievements , as well as any significant targets reached , over the past two years ( of which you are particularly proud )?
JA : We are particularly proud this year to have won the Federation of Small Businesses Exporter of the Year 2023 for the Northern Ireland region as well as being finalists in
