The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors ’ National Association ( SMACNA ), in the USA , has confirmed that Carol Duncan , CEO and owner of General Sheet Metal , has been elected by the Board of Directors to serve as President . Duncan ’ s year-long term in office began at the close of SMACNA ’ s 79th Annual Convention in Phoenix , USA , on 18 October 2023 .

Duncan began her career in the sheet metal industry in 1982 at General Sheet- Metal , a Clackamas , Oregon-based company specialising in mechanical , architectural and HVAC fabrication , installation and repair services for commercial and industrial markets . She became the company ’ s CEO in 2000 and has helped to grow the company from 25 employees to more than 180 . She has been active on the national legislative front for over 25 years , serving as the Political Action Committee ( PAC ) Chair and Legislative Chair .

An active member of SMACNA both nationally and locally , Duncan has served in many roles and committees including Products & Programmes Coordinating Committee and SMACNA / SMART Best

Practices Market Expansion Task Force . She has also been heavily involved in her local chapter , SMACNA Oregon & Southwest Washington .

“ In her new role as President , Duncan will be focused on the BE4ALL initiative , a joint effort of SMACNA , SMART and the International Training Institute ( iTi ) to positively impact the industry ’ s work culture and meet the real-world demand for the best , and most qualified , workforce available ,” commented SMACNA .

The association also confirmed that Scott Vidimos , President of Vidimos , Inc ., has been elected by the Board of Directors to serve as Vice President . His year-long term in office also began at the close of SMACNA ’ s 79th Annual Convention in Phoenix .

Vidimos began his career in the sheetmetal industry in 1979 as a project manager with Vidimos , Inc ., an East Chicago , Indiana-based company specialising in duct collection , steel fabrication and industrial ventilation systems . He became its President and third-generation leader in 2005 .

An active member of SMACNA both nationally and locally , Vidimos has served in many roles and committees including SMACNA ’ s Industrial Contractors Council Steering Committee ; Technical Resources Committee ; Budget and Finance Committee ; Director Nominating Committee and as a SMACNA-IFUS Trustee . Vidimos has also been heavily involved in his local chapter , the Northern Indiana Sheet Metal Contractors Association .

SMACNA also announced the winners of its annual Contractor of the Year and Chapter Executive of the Year awards at its 79th Annual Convention in Phoenix , Arizona ( USA ). Contractor of the Year is Kevin Gill Jr ., President of McCusker-Gill , and the Chapter Executive of the Year award was presented to James T . Strother Jr ., Executive Director of SMACNA of Western Pennsylvania .

SMACNA is an international trade association representing 3,500 contributing contractor firms and promotes quality and excellence in the sheet-metal and airconditioning industry . It has national offices in Chantilly ( VA ) and on Capitol Hill in the USA . n

With over a decade ’ s worth of experience , Alex Brooks has joined the company as an aluminium extrusion project manager .
