one- , two- , three- or four-kilowatt fibre laser . This flexibility enables users to machine sheets made from structural steel ( up to six and ten millimetres ), from stainless steel ( up to four , six or ten millimetres ) and from aluminium in various thicknesses ( up to three , four or ten millimetres ).
The trend in manufacturing is to make components that are lighter in weight , use less material , conserve resources and integrate functionality ( i . e . thinner sheet structures ). Boschert has expanded its “ Combi ” series of machines to include fibre laser . The CombiLaser series is available with working ranges from 1000 x 2000mm to 1500 x 3000mm . Now , users can produce complex parts on a single machine without repositioning . The Boschert CombiLaser combines the advantages of laser cutting with the unique features of CNC punching .
In the past , complex contours could only be cut on a flat sheet laser . Operations such as forming , beading , trimming and threading required a separate CNC punch . The new CombiLaser combines the best qualities of both operations . Boschert ’ s fibre laser system can be mounted to any of Boschert ‘ s standard line of CNC punching machines , which enables users to purchase the machine that best suits their requirements .

“ On our stand here at EuroBLECH , apart from the new FiberLaser and CombiLaser , we are also promoting some of our latest technologies . This includes our CuProfi punching machine that now boasts a new Schneider control . We are also showcasing a new real-time automatic angle measurement and correction system on our Gizelis GBend Plus 3140 press brake . You can see systems here with conveyor belt technology , as well as our standard laser and punching machines , along with combination laser / punching technology ,” Philipp Schöchlin told ISMR .
The company developed a 4020 punching machine last year which can process sheets sizes of up to 4 x 2m . It offers precision punching , nibbling and forming in one heavyduty-machine . Sheet panels can measure 2000 x 4000 / 6000mm ( 4mm stainless steel , 6mm mild steel or 8mm aluminium ).
“ One of our proudest achievements over the last few years was the development of the 4020 . It is the only punching machine in the world able to punch 4 x 2m without repositioning . This helps customers who want to punch large sheets . Many customers would like to process all their metal sheets in one working cycle so the machine features a new tooling system with 12 stations for TRUMPF tooling . With stepless indexable tools , it offers a total of max . 96 tools which is more than enough for most sheet-metalworking operations . It is possible to pre-adjust tooling for different sheets or for partial sheets . This reduces non-productive downtime to a minimum and enables longer machine useful life ,” explained Schöchlin .
“ We are continuing a lot of new and interesting projects this year . It is important that we can offer a whole range of machines to our customers . For example , notching / punching / laser cutting technology from Boschert ; bigger bending / shearing machines from Gizelis but also technology from allied companies such as Picot ( rollforming ) and Stierli ( horizontal bending solutions ). We want to grow with our customers on their journey , whatever size of machine they need . No customer is too small for us ,” he added .
Improving functionality on its machines , in the form of additional options such as welding , milling or threading , smaller / larger tables etc ., is a key area for Boschert . It also works on special projects with customers who have specific requirements . Combining forming processes with laser functionality in its combi machines has been a strong growth area for the company , as well as increasing productivity and flexibility for its customers .
