Success for 33 . BI-MU

On Saturday 15 October 2022 , the 33rd BI-MU , the biennial exhibition of machine tools , robotics , automation , digital and additive manufacturing in Milan ( Italy ), closed its doors . Promoted by UCIMU-Sistemi Per Produrre ( the Italian machine tool , robot and automation systems manufacturers ’ association ) and organised by EFIM-ENTE Fiere Italiane Macchine , the event reported large numbers of visitors .
“ 33 . BI-MU showcased the best international products in the sector , with almost 700 exhibiting companies ( 37 % of whom were from overseas ) occupying a total surface area of 65,000 square metres in the four halls set up for the event ,” said the show organiser .
In addition to over 42,000 professional operators registered at the turnstiles ( 5 % from overseas ), it is estimated that about 8,000 visitors came from the co-located Xylexpo show .
“ Among overseas visitors , there were also 100 operators ( mostly end users ) in addition to several journalists from 13 countries — Australia ; Bosnia-Herzegovina ; Brazil ; Canada ; Croatia ; India ; Mexico ; Poland ; Romania ; Slovenia ; Turkey ; USA ; Uzbekistan and Vietnam — invited as part of the business
mission organised by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE in cooperation with ICE-Italian Trade Agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and of International Cooperation ,” added the organiser .
The 2018 edition of the show registered 65,000 visitors for over 1,000 exhibiting enterprises , whereas the 33 . BI-MU recorded around 50,000 visitor entries for 700 exhibiting companies .
The show included five innovation areas / technology themes based around machinetools and production systems , which are listed below :
■ RobotHeart , sponsored by SIRI ( the Italian Robotics and Automation Association ), was dedicated to the world of robotics .
■ piùAdditive , sponsored by AITA-Italian Association of Additive Technologies , was centred on additive technologies .
■ BI-MU Digital focused on the world of ICT and technologies for connectivity .
■ Metrology & Testing centred on testing , measuring and quality-control machines and systems .
■ BI-MU Logistics was dedicated to logistics for the mechanical industry .
The 33 . BI-MU also offered operators a full programme of in-depth cultural and thematic meetings , hosted in the BI-MUpiù arena . Over 60 speeches were arranged
by organisers and exhibitors , which involved more than 1,900 attendees . Around 12,500 users connected online using the live streaming service from the homepage of BIMU ’ s website . Meetings in the piùAdditive area also attracted hundreds of operators interested in learning more about additive manufacturing and its multiple and varied applications .
The two-day annual conference of I-RIM , the Italian Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Machines , took place during BI-MU . Around one hundred attendees ( including professors , scholars , researchers and experts ) discussed the academic and research activity focused on the world of industrial robotics .
With the UCIMU Academy , about 3,500 students visited the exhibition accompanied by their teachers . Around 300 further students took part in tours guided by tutors of the association , highlighting the features , values and strengths of the sector . The BI-MU webApp registered over 2,400 downloads ( for the exhibition days ).
The next BI-MU exhibition will take place from 9-12 October 2024 . n
