Setting the water margin
Since 1971 , KMT Waterjet Systems has been a global specialist in waterjet technology and waterjet machinery . For decades , it has manufactured waterjet ultra-highpressure intensifier pumps ( UHP ) with water pressurised up to 90,000PSI ( 6.200 bar ).

At the recent EuroBLECH exhibition in Hanover , its PRO 50 pump unit was on display . It recently introduced the KMT Streamline PRO ® 90,000 PSI ( 6.200 bar ) waterjet pump for rapid cutting applications . The PRO is available in various kilowatt pressures for a wide range of cutting applications : 37kW , 45kW and 93kW ( which KMT Waterjet dubs “ the world ’ s fastest waterjet ”).
“ The new STREAMLINE PRO ® 50 6.200- bar ( 37kW ) pump is designed to significantly increase cutting productivity by up to 40 % over industry standard 4.100 bar ( 37kW ) cutting speeds ,” said KMT Waterjet .
“ The PRO 6.200 bar ( 45kW ) pump will significantly increase cutting productivity by 50 -70 % over industry standard 4.100 bar ( 37kW ) cutting speeds . The PRO 6.200 bar ( 93kW ) pump delivers twice the power to the abrasive waterjet tables by cutting products in up to half the time over conventional 4.100 bar ( 75kW ) waterjet machining systems ,” it added .
The company ’ s new NEO™ 60,000 PSI ( 4.100 bar ) 50HP pump offers features such as proportional pressure control , a booster pump and soft-start motor to eliminate voltage spikes as well as threaded cylinder design , removable magnetic doors and patent-protected HP seal design .
KMT has also launched the new KMT Waterjet Cut Calculator 2.0 app with an on-demand webinar . The video is an informational session that showcases all the new features of the 2.0 version of the KMT waterjet calculator .

3D-scanned surface damage assessment
Creaform , a business unit of AMETEK , Inc . and a specialist in portable 3D measurement solutions and engineering services , has released VXintegrity , a 3D-scanning solution for surface damage assessment . Designed specifically to respond to the challenges facing industrial assets owners and NDT service companies , this new software platform contains four different modules , intended to tackle any surface analyses as well as simple metrology applications .
“ Making it possible to measure up to 80 times faster than manual measuring tools , the new VXintegrity software platform , combined with our 3D scanners , represents the optimal solution to the current shortage of experienced technicians and aging and / or damaged infrastructures . This user-independent technology requires little training and few certifications , which means that technicians can be up and running faster than with other techniques ,” it told ISMR .
“ This complete NDT solution also enables industrial asset owners to make the best maintenance decisions with the best available data , as it can accurately measure thickness loss on corroded , industrial and complex geometry such as elbows ; nozzles ; pressure vessel heads ; tank floors and valves . A complete analysis of all types of surfaces is now possible ,” it added .
The VXintegrity software platform regroups four different application software modules dedicated to specific industry challenges :
■ Pipeline module ( also known as Pipecheck ): This provides corrosion , denting ( mechanical damage ) and wrinkle analyses for pipeline integrity assessment .
■ Aerospace module ( also known as SmartDENT 3D ): Suitable for the aerospace industry and MRO companies , this 3D scanning solution is used for hailstorm damage inspection ; flap and spoiler maintenance ; aircraft incident analysis and regulatory scheduled maintenance .
■ New surface damage module : Specifically created with power generation and heavy industry owners in mind , this module assesses surface damage on complex geometries and a variety of shapes , sizes and materials .
■ New monitoring module : This solution is a noiseless NDT method used to compare damage progression through time , deformation analyses and other simple metrology applications .
