Improving the workplace environment

At MACH 2026 in the UK this April, Comau showcased some of its solutions for automation and improved workplace ergonomics.
With built-in collaborative safety features and ergonomic benefits, Comau’ s MyCo family of collaborative robots( cobots) enables operators to work side-by-side with robots.
“ MyCo improves workplace well-being, optimising production space and enhancing operational safety. Engineered for quick installation, easy programming and rapid redeployment, MyCo cobots significantly reduce integration complexity and support faster lead time,” said the robotics specialist, as it demonstrated the system to ISMR on its show stand.
At MACH 2026, Comau also displayed its MATE-XT GO, a fully mechanical exoskeleton, requiring no batteries or motors, designed to reduce shoulder muscle strain during overhead tasks by providing physical support in repetitive or static operations.
“ The new wearable exoskeleton weighs less than 3kg and is easy to use; it can be put on in 30 seconds and taken off in just ten seconds, allowing for easy integration into daily activities without interrupting workflows,” confirmed Comau.
MATE-XB is Comau’ s passive exoskeleton designed to help reduce lower-back fatigue during material-handling activities, supporting operators in various static postures or repetitive lifting tasks.

“ The main advantage of MyMR is that its powerful embedded battery allows it to be coupled with another device( MyCo, for example) while maintaining good autonomy. Integration with Comau’ s fleet manager enables the most efficient cycle time,” Comau said.
Designed to operate without fixed infrastructure, such as magnetic tapes or floor markings, MyMR is designed for“ seamless adaptability to changing layouts and dynamic workflows.” Comau’ s portfolio includes three AMR models each tailored to different payload requirements, covering a wide range of use cases and applications.
“ We demonstrated how automation can strengthen business competitiveness, especially in complex, dynamic and unstructured production environments,” said John Coombes, Managing Director, Comau UK. Logistics automation is another strategic area for Comau, strengthened by its acquisition of Automha, an Italian company specialising in warehouse and intralogistics solutions. This move expands Comau’ s presence in the rapidly growing storage and logistics market.
Comau and Automha are headquartered in Italy( Turin and Bergamo, respectively) with eight innovation centres and 14 production facilities in 12 countries, with over 4,000 employees. n

Manual and robotic weld fume extraction

Nederman’ s Fume Eliminator GoMax is an intelligent on-torch and robotic welding fumeextraction system. It is suitable for use with manual and robot / cobot welding applications( 1-2 users). Welding fumes are captured directly at source before they spread into the air, reducing the risk of exposure to harmful substances.
“ GoMax’ s mobile design allows for easy relocation. It can also be conveniently mounted on the wall. Whether manually activated, automatically controlled by a welding torch or robot, GoMax will quickly increase and maintain the extraction airflow needed, ensuring a
safer and cleaner working environment,” confirmed Nederman.
“ Set up your robot or introduce a new user with just a few clicks. Users can enjoy continuous welding without interruptions, thanks to the system’ s automatic cleaning feature. Our highefficiency Nanofiber with innovative cleaning captures toxic particulates. The GoMax is suitable for use with all types of weldable metals including carbon steel, alloys and stainless steel,” it added.
GoMax is designed to enhance productivity by serving two workstations simultaneously. Its torch compatibility offers long-term usability and adaptability, according to Nederman. The company cites 25 % energy reduction savings, compared to the previous generation. The system automatically activates with welding activity from one or two users and performs self-cleaning when necessary.
A specialist in fume and dust extraction for over 80 years, Nederman offers complete solutions from the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke systems to standard products for specific applications. n
