INDUSTRY REPORT

“ Tariffs have impacted the aerospace market by raising costs for imported aircraft components, engines, avionics and specialised materials, disrupting production timelines and increasing operational expenses for manufacturers and MRO providers. These effects are most pronounced in commercial aircraft manufacturing, MRO services and aerospace support equipment across regions heavily reliant on cross-border supply chains( particularly North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific). While tariffs have slowed procurement and increased price pressures, they have also encouraged regional manufacturing expansion, local sourcing and strategic collaborations that strengthen domestic aerospace capabilities,” added the analyst.

Aerospace parts manufacturing
Aerospace parts manufacturers purchase raw materials either directly from suppliers or through third-party suppliers under competitively priced supply contracts or bidding arrangements. Parts manufacturers procure raw materials from suppliers to produce customised components for their clients. They enter into long-term contracts with material suppliers to maintain a robust supply. The manufacturers of complex aerospace parts, such as aero engines, have their own supply chain within the market.
The aerospace parts manufacturing companies are integrated into the value chain from earlier stages of material purchase and design process. Aircraft manufacturing companies work closely with suppliers to monitor technological trends as well as to anticipate any changes in component availability and pricing.
Innovations such as additive manufacturing( 3D printing) have changed how aerospace components are designed and produced, leading to reduced waste and shorter production times.
“ The expansion in air passenger and air freight volume across the globe against the backdrop of economic growth in emerging countries and considerable developments in commercial aviation are the key drivers for the aerospace

“ The number of passengers flying per year has continued to rise, fuelled by affordable ticket prices, frequency of flights and route availability. This will positively impact on the aerospace parts manufacturing market over the coming years. Aviation is carbonintensive and one of the fastest growing sectors in terms of greenhouse emissions. Increasing demand for air transportation and decreasing marginal fuel efficiency are likely to put pressure on the aerospace industry to reduce its greenhouse emissions,” added the analyst.
Growth and improvements in emerging economies, coupled with the increase in per capita income, are expected to drive the demand for passenger and air freight, resulting in“ surging demand for aerospace parts manufacturing.” The ageing fleet, technological advancements, the increased need for efficient aircraft and aircraft designed for specific missions( such as space missions) are expected to drive the demand for new aircraft, boosting demand for aerospace parts manufacturing.
“ Increased defence spending to reduce operational costs and improve the efficiency of aircraft is anticipated to create opportunities for innovation which, in turn, is expected to boost technological advances in aerospace parts manufacturing. Energy costs continue to be the most significant expense in aircraft operations, impelling the replacement of more in-service aircraft with fuel-efficient aircraft. This is further anticipated to present tremendous opportunities to aircraft and aeroengine manufacturers,” continued the analyst.
Aircraft manufacturers provide the flexibility of customisation to their major customers( such as large airlines) to differentiate the brands and fulfil operational requirements. Airlines then add or modify the prequalified components offered by suppliers. Airlines enter into definitive agreements with aerospace parts manufacturers for the supply and maintenance of their products. In addition, major market suppliers offer engines to the airlines and simultaneously offer maintenance, repair and overhaul( MRO) services.
