UK roof ventilation and construction specialist, BPD Wienerberger, is diversifying its product portfolio with a GRM-NC stamping and forming system.

BPD Wienerberger, a UK specialist in roof ventilation, construction membranes and other specialist construction products, recently acquired a GRM-NC stamping and forming machine from Germany-based Otto Bihler Maschinenfabrik.

“ The system dramatically reduces set-up times and opens up a range of new manufacturing opportunities for the company, which is being expanded to act as a roofing centre of excellence for innovative, system-based roofing solutions within the Wienerberger Group,” Bihler told ISMR.
The product portfolio of UK-based Building Product Design Ltd( BPD) features roof underlay membranes, vapour barriers for roofs and walls and building ventilation systems as well as a wide range of other building products. The company, which was founded in the 1980s, has two production sites, in Merthyr Tydfil( South Wales) and Nottingham( England). In 2019, it was taken over by the Austrian Wienerberger Group, which is a leading manufacturer of roof tiles and clay roof tiles, paving stones and piping systems. The Group has therefore further extended its current portfolio of roofing products and continues to grow.

“ BPD is being extended to act as a roofing centre of excellence within the Wienerberger Group. Among other things, this means that we will grow our accessories portfolio and diversify to service a wider market than in the past. To do this, we are naturally also investing in our machine pool,” explained Ben Gerry, Managing Director, BPD.
“ Our aim in this new role is to manufacture in-house a lot of the parts that we previously had to purchase and consequently better utilise our internal capabilities,” added Daniel King, BPD’ s plant manager in Nottingham( UK).
