Targi Kielce ’ s Industrial Spring 2024 event in Kielce , Poland ( including trade fairs such as STOM-Tool and STOM-Laser ), recently braved a background of agricultural strikes and blockades to host an estimated 1,000 more visitors than its event in 2023 . The ISMR team also attended the event and distributed the April issue of its magazine at the STOM-TOOL exhibition .
“ The 2024 Exhibition of Metal Processing Technologies and its accompanying events hosted 20,000 visitors . Although the number of technical school students visiting the fair decreased ( 1,500 of them this year as opposed to 2,500 last year ), our exhibitors ’ feedback leaves no doubt ; this was an outstanding trade show ,” the show organisers told ISMR .
Nearly 600 exhibitors presented a range of machinery operating live on the show floor . This year ’ s event also offered dynamic presentations of complete robotic lines . Cutting tools , 3D printing , measurement and grinding technologies were also strongly represented in the Targi Kielce exhibition halls .
“ A specialised conference organised by industry publishing house , ELAMED , was designed to present the latest technological solutions in the steel processing market . The ‘ Innovation and New Technologies ’ seminar was the venue for exhibitors to present their company-focused information package and share technology and product information . The annual ‘ Laser Processing Seminar ’ was held at STOM-Laser ; all types of laser technologies used in industry was the seminar ’ s main theme . The ‘ Rapid Prototyping of Metals ’ seminar was organised by the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Upper Silesian Institute of Technology ,” added the show organiser .
The gala ceremony was held on the first day of the show , where products and services showcased at the exhibition earned accolades . The awards ceremony also encompassed ‘ Top Design ’ awards .
The next Targi Kielce Industrial Spring event will be held from 25-28 March 2025 . n www . targikielce . pl

Digital transformation is “ demystified ” for UK SMEs
Smarter and leading technology demonstrators have joined forces to “ demystify ” digital transformation with a new white paper , which aims to inspire and inform SME manufacturers about technology adoption
‘ Made Smarter technologies : powering the digital transformation of SME manufacturers ’ is a practical guide from the UK governmentbacked and industry-led technology adoption programme in the north west of the UK . The free-to-download document aims to inform and inspire manufacturers exploring existing technologies such as software ; industrial IoT ; automation and robotics ; 3D printing and cyber security , while showcasing emerging digital tools such as artificial intelligence ( AI ) and digital twins .
Stephanie West and Tabs Khojani from NERIC .
The white paper is backed by institutions who work with Made Smarter to demonstrate technology to SME manufacturers , including :
■ The North of England Robotics Innovation Centre ( NERIC ), the University of Salford ’ s centre for automation and robotics .
■ PrintCity , Manchester Metropolitan University ’ s 3D printing facility .
■ The Manufacturing Technology Centre ( MTC ) in Liverpool , part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult .
■ The Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre ( AMRC ) North West based in Samlesbury , Lancashire .
■ The Hartree Centre at Sci-Tech Daresbury , Cheshire .
PrintCity has supported over 200 SMEs to develop new products , goods and services since it was launched six years ago , as well as supporting students to learn essential 3D design , scanning and printing skills . Made Smarter has worked closely with PrintCity delivering innovative training for SMEs through the ‘ Fast Track Digital Workforce Fund ’ and ‘ Leadership ’ programmes .
NERIC is a new £ 16m facility in Salford , UK , consisting of three laboratories showcasing how robotics and automation can address realworld business problems .
Tabs Khojani , Business Development Manager , said : “ NERIC has established itself as a key collaborator in the business ecosystem in Greater Manchester and the wider region . We have developed a strong connection with Made Smarter to help signpost SME manufacturers towards business support and grant funding opportunities . NERIC and Made Smarter share the view that the benefits of adopting robotics and automation in the manufacturing sector are clear . Automation can help to address skills shortages , improve quality and efficiency , increase productivity and gain a competitive advantage .”
The Hartree Centre , at Sci-Tech Daresbury , in Cheshire helps businesses and organisations to explore and adopt supercomputing , data science and AI technologies for enhanced productivity , predictive maintenance , datadriven decision-making and economic growth . It is also a leading partner in the Smart Manufacturing Data Hub , supporting SME manufacturers to become more competitive by harnessing the power of their data .
AMRC North West , based in Samlesbury , is part of a cluster of centres for innovation and research into advanced manufacturing technologies . Research and development are accessible to manufacturers driven by the goal to increase innovation across the wider region , working closely with the extended SME supply chains .
The MTC in Liverpool provides an environment for the development and demonstration of new technologies on an industrial scale , supporting skills , productivity and growth across the UK manufacturing industry .
“ Since 2019 , Made Smarter has helped 300 manufacturers invest £ 22.5m in a range of IDTs and reap a raft of rewards including 1,600 new jobs and 2,850 upskilled roles , all while boosting the economy by £ 242m ,” Made Smarter told ISMR .
