Launch of Aluminium Forward 2030 Coalition

The International Aluminium Institute ( IAI ) recently launched Aluminium Forward 2030 , a coalition of IAI ’ s 25 production members and 20 downstream and customer companies who have committed themselves to transforming the aluminium sector . The aim is to accelerate progress towards net zero emissions while working together on a roadmap that is inclusive of all the other U . N . Sustainable Development Goals .
This IAI initiative flows from discussions with various players in the beverage can , automotive , electrical , transport and construction markets and demonstrates the power of collaborative efforts to tackle one of the most complex global challenges .
“ We will build on existing collaborations , such as in the beverage can sector , to enhance circularity and reduce emissions . Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and combating climate change have become priorities for the aluminium industry . However , the sector needs to move comprehensively towards net zero carbon in a way that addresses all other aspects of sustainability . This is why we have formed the Aluminium Forward 2030 coalition ,” the IAI told ISMR .

“ Key leaders in major aluminium sectors , such as Jaguar Land Rover ; beverage can producers , Ball ; Crown Holdings and Ardagh Metal Packaging ; cable producers Nexans ; and aluminium technology company Gränges , among others , have already endorsed Aluminium Forward 2030 . The coalition aims to protect and enhance the societal value of aluminium in all its applications . It also gives members the opportunity to be part of a learning community that will transform the future of supply chains ,” it continued .
Each coalition member ’ s insights and experiences will be used to help aluminium producers adjust their transformation strategies to meet their sustainability needs and those of their customers .
The coalition is a learning community focused on action to transform the aluminium supply chains for consuming sectors such as automotive ; transportation ; beverage and packaging ; building ; cable and electrical ; and consumer goods . The International Aluminium Institute has partnered with FAST FORWARD ZERO to provide strategic guidance and ensure a wide representation of the aluminium-consuming segments .
For over 50 years , the aluminium industry has pioneered the sustainable production and use of aluminium . The industry has collaborated on issues such as waste management , reduction of pollution and improving health outcomes for workers , communities and consumers .
The International Aluminium Institute ( IAI ) represents the global primary aluminium industry . The Institute has comprehensive global data on aluminium with more than 40 years of analysis on production , consumption , energy use and environmental impact . n

New dates and locations for FABTECH

The FABTECH event partners have announced new event dates and locations in the United States for FABTECH in 2024 and 2026 . FABTECH , North America ’ s largest metalforming , fabricating , welding and finishing event , will be held from 15-17 October 2024 , in Orlando , Florida , at the Orange County Convention Centre and 21-23 October 2026 , in Las Vegas , Nevada , at the Las Vegas Convention Centre .
“ The decision to relocate FABTECH to Orlando in 2024 was made after careful deliberation by FABTECH show management . FABTECH was originally scheduled for Las Vegas in November 2024 . However , the city of Las Vegas is slated to host the Formula One Grand Prix Race during the same time frame in November , with 100,000-plus projected visitors expected to descend on the city . This development makes Las Vegas not optimal to host FABTECH in 2024 as planned . As a result , other viable venue locations were evaluated ,” said the show organisers .
“ We are pleased to have secured dates and space in the Orange County Convention Centre in Orlando ,” added John Catalano , SME Senior Director , Events and Strategic
Partnerships , FABTECH . “ Orlando can accommodate FABTECH ’ s size and scope and has excellent facilities including a modern convention centre with experience hosting large manufacturing trade shows , numerous hotels within walking distance and a nearby airport easily accessible for U . S . and international travellers .”
The changes in location deviate from FABTECH ’ s regular rotation of Chicago , Las Vegas and Atlanta . However , according to event partners , these changes to the schedule will ensure a better overall experience for attendees , exhibitors and event stakeholders .
The full schedule of locations for FABTECH in the U . S . over the next five years is as follows .
■ 11-14 September 2023 at McCormick Place in Chicago , IL , USA .
■ 15-17 October 2024 at Orange County Convention Centre in Orlando , FL , USA .
■ 8-11 September 2025 at McCormick Place in Chicago , IL , USA .
