Welsh aluminium fabricator , Dudley ’ s Aluminium , has strengthened its senior management team with five director-level appointments . Selected by the company ’ s Board of Directors , the appointments are all internal promotions .
“ Neil Andrews and Simon Hoggett have been appointed estimating director and sales director respectively , supporting new business development . Neil Andrews manages a team of three estimators , reviewing all tender enquiries to ensure that compliant and competitive bids are submitted for new projects . The estimating team will liaise closely with sales director , Simon Hoggett , whose 30- year sales experience in the aluminium curtain walling and window industry will support the development of existing and new client projects and further company growth ,” said Dudley Aluminium .
Supporting clients from design to project completion , Neil Jones has been appointed contracts director . He will oversee all projects from contract appointment , engaging with

clients on the planning , coordination and programming of their projects as well as ensuring that quality is delivered through supply and installation .
Gary Smythe has been appointed technical director . He oversees the design process of all secured projects and provides support to the estimating and installation departments .
The final appointment sees Stephen Muir become commercial director . His responsibilities include contract condition negotiations for main contractors , issuing sub-contract orders and payments to the company ’ s supply chain as well as supporting the planning of future projects . n

Karl-Petter Thorwaldsson to join SSAB
Karl-Petter Thorwaldsson , former President of the Swedish Trade Union Confederation , LO , is to join SSAB as senior advisor to strengthen the company ’ s government relations and public affairs in Sweden and at the EU level . The recruitment is a step towards SSAB ’ s ambition to lead the green transformation in the steel industry . Karl-Petter Thorwaldsson will report directly to Martin Lindqvist , SSAB ’ s President and CEO .
“ SSAB is doing a fantastic job to fundamentally transform the steelmaking process and to reduce not just Nordic , but also global , carbon dioxide emissions . Through the HYBRIT initiative , SSAB has changed the image of Sweden ’ s basic industry . Industry has an important significance for Sweden as a nation and for our competitiveness and prosperity . I look forward to using my experience to contribute to and create the preconditions for new Swedish green export success and new green jobs ,” he told ISMR .
Karl-Petter Thorwaldsson has served as president of the Swedish Trade Union Federation ( LO ), the Workers ’ Educational Association ( ABF ) and the Swedish Social Democratic Youth League ( SSU ). He is currently deputy president of the International Trade Union Federation ( ITUF ).
SSAB aims to be the first in the world to market , in 2026 , with fossil-free steel . In 2025 , it intends to convert its first site in Oxelösund , ‘ reducing SSAB ’ s emissions by 25 % in Sweden and Sweden ’ s emissions by 2-3 %’. In 2016 , SSAB launched the HYBRIT initiative with LKAB and Vattenfall . The goal is to create a fossil-free value chain for iron- and steelmaking and to introduce new technology using fossil-free hydrogen , instead of coal and coke to reduce the oxygen in iron ore . The by-product will be water , instead of carbon dioxide . The initiative has the potential to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 10 % in Sweden and by 7 % in Finland . n
