Plate straightening purchase
On 15 September 2023 , Miilux Oy officially signed the purchase agreement for an advanced Faccin R9-2500x30 platestraightening machine . Miilux ’ s decision to choose Faccin once again is a testament to its experience with the Faccin R series machine , which was successfully installed at its facility in Turkey in 2015 . This new machine will effectively replace an outdated existing one , further enhancing Miilux ’ s operational efficiency .
Miilux Oy is a top-tier service provider catering to the needs of metal , mining and stone industries , as well as earthmoving and mechanical engineering companies in Finland and globally . Its production facilities are in Raahe , Finland ( a hub that offers convenient access by sea and road ) with two branches in Poland and Turkey . Miilux is always on the lookout for ways to improve its production capabilities and invest in the latest technology .
The Finnish Steel Service Centre found itself in a predicament ; its trusty plate leveller , a loyal workhorse for over five decades , was showing signs of wear and tear . Recognizing the need for improvement , the company decided it was time to seek a replacement .
“ We decided to invest in a new straightening machine to replace the current old one . The technical life of our actual straightening roller was approaching its end . Hard and strong Miilux steels require more power from the machine . We wanted to invest in product quality . With this investment , the level properties of Miilux steels will be top class ,” explained Olli Mattila , Sales and Production Director , Miilux Oy .
Making the selection
After careful consideration that took over three years , the decision-making process reached its conclusion with the selection

“ During the evaluation of various options , we took into account the successful implementation of a Faccin plate straightening machine at the Miilux branch in Turkey four years ago . The outcome of this installation was highly satisfactory , demonstrating the effectiveness of the machine in terms of reliability and high performance ,” Miilux confirmed .
“ We waited for technical reports from our factory in Turkey , where the straightening machine has been functioning for four years . The operator feedback was very positive . The Vossi Group , Faccin Group ’ s agent , has been our partner for several of our machine investments . We have a long partnership with both the Faccin and Vossi Groups ; the technical assistance provided is always toplevel . [ We made this decision because of a host of benefits such as quality , reliability , price , compliance with our needs etc .]” listed Mattila .
The efficiency of the maintenance service and promptness of response time greatly influenced Miilux ’ s decision-making when it came to new investments .
“ Often , the purchase price represents just a small part of the lifecycle cost of the machine . Companies invest in machines for fabrication needs and , when they work , they generate invaluable incomes for the company . It is of the utmost importance that the maintenance of the machines respects high-quality standards and that any technical problem is resolved quickly . From our experience , we know that Faccin Group and Vossi Group have invested in these issues ,” added Mattila .
A customised solution
According to Mattila , the substantial cost savings achieved through the implementation of the Faccin plate leveller solution at the Miilux Turkish branch can be attributed to its energy efficiency and production capabilities . As a result , the Faccin Group has been chosen once again to provide the new acquisition for the Finnish headquarters .
“ In our case , the challenge was the limited space available , which affected this machine purchase . Faccin Group addressed the challenges relating to the machine location , designing the so-called ‘ Miilux Style ’ model for us , the Faccin R9- 2500x30 plate straightening machine . The machine will be placed as an extension of our tempering line i . e . almost all tempering plates are run through the straightening roll . The straightening capacity of the new machine is up to 20mm material thickness when it comes to wear steels . This increase in quality gives our sales managers a new opportunity to sell more wear steels to more destinations . We are looking forward to next summer when the new plate straightening machine will be part of our production process here in Raahe ,” concluded Mattila .
“ A couple of years ago , we acquired a Faccin 4HEL series four-roll plate bending machine . Previously , we had a Faccin HAV series three-roll variable geometry bending machine in use for a long time , so we have a lot of expertise with Faccin equipment . Our operators are satisfied with these userfriendly and reliable machines ( both located in Finland ),” confirmed Mattila .
“ Thanks to the new Faccin solution , a more efficient roll will be achieved and better correction for larger and harder material strengths ,” concluded Miilux .
