Education and Development Zone
“ Attracting new talent into the engineeringbased manufacturing sector is another key driver for the MTA and is the reason that we invest in a dedicated Education and Development Zone at MACH . Successfully attracting over 3000 students in the key age range of 11-18 , the zone is designed to inspire a future generation into engineering as an exciting career ,” outlined the MTA .
The E & D Zone is the educational hub at MACH 2024 , designed for students keen to explore what engineering-based manufacturing can offer them as a future career .

The Education and Development ( E & D ) Zone at MACH 2024 is once again being sponsored by global metalcutting specialist , Sandvik Coromant . The E & D Zone at MACH 2024 will be hosted in Hall 17 and will feature a range of exhibitors from different sections of the engineering industry , hands-on activities and more . Interactive activities will be organised by key contributors including F1 in Schools , University of Wolverhampton Racing , Vex Robotics and the National Physical Laboratory .
A crucial part of the E & D zone is guided tours of the exhibition . As part of these tours , students learn more about the latest manufacturing technologies being developed
James Selka , CEO , MTA . and deployed in UK industry and get to learn about potential career paths and opportunities . The tours even provide guidance on the manufacturing and engineering companies that are recruiting UK apprentices .
Schools and students are encouraged to register their interest in attending the E & D Zone in advance of the event by visiting the MACH website . Likewise , parents and guardians are welcome to register interest to attend the show — students aged between 11 and 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult .
Getting there
BY AIR Birmingham Airport ( BHX ) has direct flights from Europe and other global destinations . Upon arrival , take the free and fast air-rail link to Birmingham International Railway Station from the upper level of Terminal 1 . The train runs every two minutes and takes 90 seconds .
On arrival , head straight through to the NEC . Signposting to the MACH exhibition will be displayed throughout the exhibition facility .
BY CAR The NEC , Birmingham , is signposted from all major routes including the M40 , M42 and M6 . For satnav details , please enter the postcode B40 1NT . Once onsite , follow the electronic signs which will direct you to the MACH car parks . During the show , free-to-use shuttle buses operate regular services between the main car parks and NEC ’ s main entrance . MACH signposting will be located inside the venue . Additional information about car parking at the NEC is on the venue ’ s website with details about pre-paying for car park tickets and EV charging points .
BY TRAIN The NEC is connected via covered walkways to Birmingham International Rail Station . Connecting trains can be caught from Birmingham New Street Station , which is 15 minutes away . n
