New highlight for ITM Industry Europe

The next edition of the ITM Industry Europe trade show will take place from 4-7 June 2024 in Poznań , Poland . Visitors to MTP Poznań Expo will also be able to visit the Modernlog Trade Fair of Logistics , Transport and Storage and the Subcontracting Industrial Cooperation Fair which will be held alongside ITM Industry Europe .
“ Hot topics in the industrial sector and shows in specially designated zones are just some of the attractions of the trade show ,” said show organiser , MTP .
“ Conversations with our exhibitors also fill us with optimism and energy . We have ambitious plans to meet market requirements and strongly develop the exhibition ’ s potential . We are therefore having extensive conversations with automation specialists , amongst others ,” announced Anna Lemańska-Kramer , the trade show ’ s director .
A new highlight of ITM Industry Europe in
2024 will be special test zones for specific automation / Industry-4.0 solutions . Visitors will be able to check products and technologies that support production processes in factories . This , said the show organiser , will teach visitors new skills and enable them to test solutions that could significantly improve the efficiency of their operations .
The exhibition will also feature robotics ; foundry ; welding ; surface treatment and software solutions for the industrial sector . Debates , discussion panels and presentations of new industrial solutions will also be held in conference rooms at the trade show .
The cyclical MM Speakers Corner event will also take place from 1pm to 4pm on each day of the trade show . It will discuss specific industrial sectors in Poland as well as the latest trends and challenges in industrial production .
The last ITM Industry Europe event attracted almost seven hundred exhibitors ( half of which were global and overseas companies ) and 15,156 visiting professionals . n

UK releases shipbuilding capacity report

Maritime Research and Innovation UK ( MarRI- UK ) has now published ‘ The UK ’ s Academic Capacity and Capability for Shipbuilding Report ’ funded by the National Shipbuilding Office ( NSO ). The report provides an insight into the UK ’ s current research capabilities , outlines what other nations are doing and offers recommendations to industry and government for enhanced competitiveness .
This report aligns maritime innovation and research conducted by the UK ’ s academic sector with the 2022 Refreshed National Shipbuilding Strategy ( NSbS ). By linking the UK ’ s current academic research strengths and future research opportunities with the Shipbuilding Strategy , the report aims to drive understanding in industry and academia of the latest technological and environmental innovations and “ to propel UK industry to the forefront of the global shipbuilding sector by 2030 .”

MarRI-UK ’ s academic partners have reviewed research output across the UK , focusing on the maritime engineering and technologies that underpin the UK ’ s shipbuilding industry . They identified that the UK produces leading research in decarbonisation , design and specialist ships . By concentrating efforts and resources on these areas , and utilising the UK ’ s research capability , the UK Shipbuilding Enterprise can improve its global competitiveness , it said .
“ The UK has the greatest potential in adopting Industry-4.0 and 5.0 techniques into current shipbuilding activities . It has a significant opportunity in lean manufacturing and large-scale additive manufacturing techniques , optimising and producing more efficient methods of shipbuilding . The UK needs to focus its maritime research into autonomy , decarbonisation , innovative technology ( including IoT , digital twins and
additive manufacturing ) and the maritime application of Industry 4.0 , utilising these research areas to achieve enhanced global competitiveness ,” added MarRI-UK .
The project was funded by the NSO and completed by MarRI-UK and its partner institutions around the UK . MarRI-UK is an industry-led membership organisation that drives the global competitiveness of ‘ UK Maritime ’ through extensive partnerships in identifying , developing and leveraging emerging technologies . The project partners involved were : University of Strathclyde ; University College London ( UCL ); University of Southampton ; Liverpool John Moores University ( LJMU ); Newcastle University ; University of Liverpool and the Alan Turing Institute .
MarRI-UK has also announced a new scheme to attract three micro maritime companies to join MarRI-UK on an ‘ in kind ’ contribution basis to become part of the collaborative community .
