Management change at Bystronic
Long-time Bystronic CEO , Alex Waser , has elected to retire as CEO . He will be succeeded by Domenico Iacovelli , who will assume the role of CEO from 1 July 2024 .
Under Waser , Swiss sheet-metal specialist Bystronic more than doubled its revenues in the last ten years . It grew organically and through strategic acquisitions , including Chinabased machine producer , DNE , and Spanish software company , Kurago . Under Waser ’ s leadership , Bystronic has evolved from a company manufacturing sheet metal machines to a global full-solution provider in the sheetmetal industry .
Iacovelli brings extensive management and leadership experience , having spent 13 of his 20 years in the sheet metal industry in CEO roles . In 2018 , he was named CEO of
Schuler AG and , before that , CEO of Andritz Soutec . In April 2022 , he was given additional responsibilities and named a Member of the Executive Committee for ANDRITZ , as well as Head of Business Area Metals and Group Head of IT and Automation & Digitalisation .
“ Alex executed successfully on Bystronic ’ s growth strategy , expanded our global footprint and strengthened the company ’ s market offerings and services . Bystronic will publish its Annual Report 2023 on 29 February 2024 . The company ’ s operational headquarters are at Niederönz ( Switzerland ). Additional development and production sites are in Sulgen ( Switzerland ); Gotha ( Germany ); Cazzago San Martino and San Giuliano Milanese ( Italy ); Tianjin , Shanghai and Shenzhen ( China ) and Hoffman Estates ( USA ). n

Delpino returns to Metal Craft Industries UK
In a strategic move , Metal Craft Industries UK Ltd has announced a major appointment to its management team . Albert Delpino has returned to Metal Craft Industries as its production manager . His journey with Metal Craft Industries began at the age of 16 as a trainee sheet metal worker . Now , after 30 years of traversing different facets of the industry , Delpino returns to the company where he kick-started his career .
“ Albert ’ s extensive experience covers sales ; finance ; purchasing ; programming lasers ; CAD design and man management , making him a versatile and invaluable addition to the leadership team ,” commented the manufacturer .

SMMT announces new President appointment
The 83rd President of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders ( SMMT ) in the UK is Mick Flanagan ( Vice President for Volvo , JLR , Toyota , Nissan at Adient ). He assumed office from 1 January 2024 , replacing Alison Jones , Senior Vice President Global Circular Economy at Stellantis , who stepped down after completing her two-year tenure .
Mick Flanagan draws experience from a long career in the automotive sector , having worked in the industry for 37 years . After graduating from University College
Mick Flanagan . Dublin with a degree in mechanical engineering , he started his career at Ford Motor Company and spent a decade there before moving to Visteon where he worked in a variety of manufacturing and product development roles .
He then joined Johnson Controls as a plant manager in 2000 , progressing over the years to roles in general management . Following the spin-off of Johnson Controls ’ seating division into global seating manufacturer Adient , Mick has spent the last seven years in senior management positions in the UK and Germany and is currently responsible for Adient business with JLR , Volvo , Toyota and Nissan . In addition , he serves as a Board Member supporting various international legal entities of the company .
