WEMO focuses on Asian sales

Veikko Moilanen joined the WEMO sales team for WEMO Special Projects as Vice President , Business Development for the Asian Market , on 1 November 2022 . He has over 25 years of experience in the sheet-metal industry and will be responsible for further business development in the Asian market .
“ We are delighted with Veikko ’ s arrival . He fits WEMO ’ s culture very well and his focus and vast knowledge and experience in this market is of great importance to take advantage of opportunities in Asia ,” said WEMO .
“ The Asian sheet-metal processing industry faces a huge need for automation . The market is dealing with a lot of challenges ; [ the lack of ] skilled labour forces ; increasing material prices and component scarcity . Our tailor-made sheetmetal bending machines fulfil this need and can achieve rapid cycle times and low costs per part ,” it added .
Veikko Moilanen worked for over 20 years at Finn Power / Prima Power , where he was responsible for system sales in Asia . He then started Vaski Oy in Finland , a company specialising in flat bar machinery , cut-to-length machinery and multi-coil systems .
“ Veikko ’ s focus on the Asian market will enable us to make great steps in the further development of this market . Our solutions for industry sectors in this market include elevator panels ; shelving ; electrical enclosures ; wall and ceiling panels and steel doors as well as a range of a automotive and HVAC applications ,” continued WEMO .
Veikko Moilanen will cover countries such as China ; Japan ; South Korea ; Taiwan ; Thailand ; Indonesia ; Malaysia ; Vietnam ; Australia ; the Philippines ; New Zealand and India . n

Atkins strengthens offshore wind team

Atkins is a design , engineering and project management consultancy , employing over 19,000 people across the UK , North America , Middle East and Africa , Asia Pacific and Europe . A member of the SNC-Lavalin group , it recently announced the appointment of three new director roles to boost the capability of its growing offshore wind team .
“ The new appointments reflect growing demand from the offshore wind sector for our end-to-end engineering and design services as the industry ramps up to meet UK government targets of 50GW of offshore wind by 2030 ,” it explained .
Wangwen Zhao joins the team as Offshore Wind Engineering Director , alongside Gareth Johnson , Director of Offshore Environment and Renewables , and Tim Carter as Associate Director with a focus on environmental impact assessment .
Chris Kilsby , Offshore and Renewables lead at Atkins , explained : “ These new appointments strengthen our ability to work with clients at every stage of their projects , from environmental impact assessments and design through to operational asset management and life extensions . Wangwen , Gareth and Tim bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the team as we look ahead to an important year for our net zero energy business .”
Gareth Johnson joins Atkins as Director of Offshore Environment and Renewables . He brings a breadth and depth of experience from maritime and energy sectors . Most recently , he was at Ørsted , the largest offshore wind developer in the world , where he helped manage its Strategic Environment and Permitting team and ran the company ’ s Environment R & D programme .
Wangwen Zhao joins the team as Offshore Wind Engineering Director to enhance the team ’ s technical expertise , with 15 years ’ experience in the offshore wind industry and more than three decades of experience in the energy sector . Previously at Mott Macdonald and ODE , Wangwen is a chartered engineer and has a PhD from Imperial College .
Tim Carter has extensive experience in EIA for major infrastructure across a wide range of sectors , including marine and coastal projects . He was formerly technical director with environmental consultancy , JBA . n

Henkel promotes Mark Dorn

From 1 February 2023 , Mark Dorn ( previously Senior Vice President at Henkel with responsibility for the Adhesive Technologies business in the Asia-Pacific region ) became Executive Vice President and Member of the Management Board responsible for the Adhesive Technologies business unit . He succeeds Jan-Dirk Auris , who left the company at the end of January 2023 after around 35 years of successful service .

Mark Dorn started his career at Henkel in 1992 . At Cognis , he held various management positions including sales and supply chain , marketing and strategy . In 2010 , he became head of the Formulation Additives strategic business unit at BASF and spent several years in Hong Kong before becoming Senior Vice President of Internal Management Consulting at the group ’ s headquarters in Ludwigshafen .
He returned to Henkel in 2019 and has since been responsible for the entire Adhesive Technologies business in the Asia-Pacific region and globally for the Craftsmen , Construction and Professional business area . He also serves as President for Henkel in the Asia-Pacific region . n
