Lamination stamping

AIDA , an early pioneer of direct-drive servo presses , is a global supplier of servo and mechanical metal stamping presses , automation equipment and complete metal forming systems , with thousands of units delivered to date worldwide .
“ We have a long history of investment in the research and development of dedicated systems and solutions for the highly efficient production of electric motors . As a result of this investment , we are now able to offer two product lines that are specifically dedicated to the production of motor laminations . These are the AIDA HMX Series and AIDA MSP Series presses , which have seen hundreds of successful installations in the production plants of the main market players ,” AIDA told ISMR .
MSP series
“ The material used to produce HEV / EV motor cores is also constantly evolving , in terms of thickness and material structure , to improve motor efficiency . To handle these material types , manufacturers of HEV / EV motor cores need to use presses with very low running clearances and deflection , to reduce the breakthrough effect . Thanks to our hybrid connection point and complex design , the presses in the AIDA MSP series fully meet all these requirements . In addition , all MSP presses offer accurate edge shearing , which helps to maintain the material properties , and the efficiency of the motor itself , even for the portion closest to the edge ,” explained AIDA . The AIDA MSP ( Multi-Suspension Points Presses ) series enable the production of highprecision , high-efficiency electric motors such as EV motors , HEV motors and motors for energy-efficient household appliances .

They are particularly suitable for producing parts with thicknesses of less than 0.2mm .
The presses ’ dynamic accuracy is driven by their compact design , multiple in-line suspension point architecture and the native AIM ( Adjust In Motion ) function . According to AIDA , this enables “ a perfect balance to be achieved between high rigidity and large platen area , which is essential to accommodate dies with the number of stages required for the production of high-efficiency motors .” In 2017 , AIDA launched the new MSP-3000-370 press specifically to handle dies with lengths of up to 3,700mm , as required by double-row production ( using the same technology ) and ensuring the same precision offered by other presses in the MSP series .
HMX series
“ Featuring high-profile construction standards and the absence of stroke adjustment mechanisms , our HMX series presses offer precision and maximum die life thanks to the lowest deflection characteristics of any high-speed press on the market ,” commented AIDA .
Thermal control ensures that operating temperatures remain constant for precise BDC control and accurate parts production . HMX presses are equipped with a dynamic balancing unit to counterbalance the reciprocating movement of the ram and upper die .
“ By simply eliminating unnecessary parts related to stroke adjustment , both maintenance and initial costs can be reduced significantly .

The front-to-rear and left-to-right sliding movement is minimized by long eightsided , right-angle , pre-loaded slide rails . In addition , the AIDA HMX offers significant improvements in areas directly relating to productivity and profitability such as accuracy , maintenance , reliability and cost ,” added the stamping specialist .
AiCARE data collection and analysis
Industry 4.0 , which aims to stimulate innovation in industry , focuses mainly on the integration and connection of industrial machinery to the company network . AIDA is therefore working on the use of machine learning algorithms to offer advanced preventive maintenance solutions for production continuity . It has already developed and implemented its own complete data processing solution ( via cloud computing ), AiCARE ( AIDA Information Care System ), capable of providing advanced information on the production and maintenance status of each individual press .
“ AiCARE is not just a data collection device but also an analysis tool . The use of machine learning algorithms , such as SVC , allows our customers to understand how the quality of their production is evolving . The AiCARE system has been designed to be integrated into all types of AIDA presses , but can also be seen as an external device that can be implemented on existing presses , including those of other manufacturers ,” AIDA explained .
Servo forming technology
“ In terms of flexibility requirements , we are seeing a steady increase in requests for AIDA DSF ( Direct Servo Former ) presses , which enable the potential of servo technology applied to presses to be exploited , a technology which we have pioneered since the end of the 1990s . The decision to develop intelligent presses with freely programmable movement is aimed at offering our customers the greatest possible flexibility while ensuring very high production and quality standards on which to build their competitive advantage ,” it added .
The DSF-TE4 servo transfer presses ( double-column split presses designed for transfer applications ) offer high levels of customisation through multiple configurations . Each frame component is designed and verified with FEM systems and manufactured to reduce deflection under load to less than 0.1mm / m . All structural
