Smoothing the edges

The ARKU EdgeBreaker ® 6000 .
Flexibility is the greatest strength of a laser job shop . To help these job shops to consistently meet customer processing requirements , ARKU presents its EdgeBreaker ® 6000 deburring machine .
“ It ’ s no surprise that numerous laser job shops primarily rely on lasers for sheet metal processing . However , burrs are created during laser cutting , similar to other cutting processes . No matter how small these burrs – if the customer orders burr-free parts , a deburring machine is indispensable . The machine must be able to keep up with the laser in terms of flexibility and handle an equally large variety of parts . The EdgeBreaker ® 6000 is suitable for these everchanging requirements ,” commented ARKU .
In addition to laser-cut parts , the deburring machine also processes punched parts , small or large . If required , the EdgeBreaker ® 6000 can also handle material thicknesses beyond the thin sheet range . The machine also covers processing requirements from deburring and edge rounding to surface finishing , from individual parts to large quantities ( passage width of 1300mm ).
“ The core element of the EdgeBreaker ® 6000 is the rotary brushes . This achieves the
best possible edge rounding results since the brushes make contact with the material from various directions . Users therefore receive a very uniform result on the inner and outer contours of the part . If necessary , even up to a 2.0mm radius is possible ,” said the surface finishing specialist .
In addition to the rotary brushes , there is also a grinding belt and a finishing unit . These three units make the EdgeBreaker ® 6000 the most universal deburring machine in the EdgeBreaker ® line-up . They aim to provide an attractive surface finish , as is often required for high-quality stainless steel sheets .
A quick-change system for the consumables makes the deburring machine flexible and fit for laser job shops . Set-up times can be reduced , which is particularly important for small batch sizes . ARKU also placed great emphasis on easy cleaning and maintenance when developing the EdgeBreaker ® 6000 .
“ Unlike double-sided deburring machines , the EdgeBreaker ® 6000 has a vacuum table as support for the parts . This enables the machine to securely fix even small parts onto the conveyor to process them with
repeatable accuracy . The automatic calibration of consumables also contributes to the accuracy of the deburring machine ; these consumables inevitably wear out over time . The EdgeBreaker ® 6000 detects this wear and compensates for it automatically ,” added the manufacturer .
Like other ARKU deburring machines , the EdgeBreaker ® 6000 has an intuitive user interface to support the operator in setting up the machine . Tips for operation or maintenance can also be accessed by the operator .
ARKU , founded in 1928 as a family-owned company , is a specialist in roller levelling and press feeding technology with over 50 years of experience .
