A sheet metal / tube showcase
The 23rd edition of LAMIERA( the international exhibition dedicated to sheetmetal, tube and profile cutting, forming and processing technologies) took place at fieramilano Rho( Milan, Italy) from 6- 9 May 2025. LAMIERA has become one of the most important trade fairs in the global sheet metal sector. The exhibition covered a total area of 40,000 square metres, with over 400 exhibitor companies( 31 % of whom were from outside Italy), representing 23 countries.
Promoted by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, the Italian machine tools, robots and automation systems manufacturers’ association, and organised by CEU-CENTRO ESPOSIZIONI UCIMU, LAMIERA showcased more than 500 machines in operation. This included sheetmetal cutting and forming machines; bar, profile and tube processing machines; presses; welding systems; robotics; software; surface treatments / finishing and, for the first time, revamping and retrofitting technologies. The 2025 edition of LAMIERA was awarded ICIM ISO 20121:2024 certification as a sustainable event( managed and organised according to the principles of environmental, economic and social sustainability).
“ More than 18,000 professional operators were registered as visitors over the four days of the exhibition, in addition to over 6,000 operators( who had expressed an interest in visiting LAMIERA as well, during registration) from the‘ Made in Steel’ exhibition [ held partially alongside LAMIERA ]. The agreement signed with the Made in Steel event enabled free passage from one event to the other, which once again led to very interesting results,” commented UCIMU.
Around 8.8 % of LAMIERA’ s total number of visitors were from outside Italy( representing 72 countries) with delegations
( and operators) from multiple countries including Saudi Arabia; Brazil; China; India; Mexico; Serbia; Turkey; Hungary and Vietnam. These were invited as part of the traditional initiative organised by UCIMU, in cooperation with MAECI-Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the ICE-Italian Trade Agency.
Riccardo Rosa, President of UCIMU-
SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, commented:“ This data confirms that LAMIERA is one of the most important international events dedicated to the sector, a sector in which Italy excels and where, once more in 2024, it ranked second for production and exports and third for consumption.”
Presentations and roundtables
Around 30 meetings also took place at LAMIALAMIERA, in the arena promoted by FONDAZIONE UCIMU( with the support of the Lombardy Region, sponsorship from BPER Banca and the patronage of TecnoLamiera). The opening ceremony, chaired by Riccardo Rosa, included speeches by Raffaele Cattaneo( Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Lombardy Region) and Carlo Bonomi( President of Fiera Milano).
The results of a study by CEU, in cooperation with PwC, entitled:‘ The metalforming machine sector: trends, challenges and opportunities’ were also presented. A roundtable followed, moderated by Fabrizio Garnero, editorial director of TecnoLamiera. The discussion highlighted the medium-term plans for players in aerospace, defence, rail and automotive sectors.
A total of 520 operators attended the speeches in person, in addition to 4,100 users who connected remotely over the four exhibition days via live streaming. Students invited as part of the UCIMU Academy initiative, and accompanied by their teachers, took part in free tours( about 520 students) and guided tours( about 240 students) led by tutors.
