Porsche AG demonstrated a robust performance at the start of the year . In the first three months of 2022 , the company increased both its sales revenue and its operating profit compared to the first quarter of the previous year . Sales revenue grew from 7.73 to 8.04- billion euros , and operating profit from 1.26- to 1.47 billion euros . This is an increase of 4.1- and 17.4 per cent respectively . Return on sales improved from 16.2 to 18.2 per cent .
“ Despite all the global challenges , we ’ re still right on track ,” said Lutz Meschke , Deputy Chairman and Member of the Executive Board Responsible for Finance and IT , Porsche AG . “ In the first quarter , Porsche benefited in particular from a strong sales mix , disproportionate growth in the other business segments and positive currency effects . influence , it is difficult to provide an outlook . Nevertheless , we are aiming for a return on sales of at least 15 per cent in financial year 2022 .”
To achieve its high profit expectations in light of the war in Ukraine , the sports car manufacturer has taken additional measures to secure good results .
“ Our strong quarterly figures show that our task force has done great work ,” said Meschke .
The sports car manufacturer achieved a growth in revenue despite a drop in deliveries of five per cent compared to the previous year ; in the first quarter , 68,426 vehicles were delivered to customers . Bestselling models were the Cayenne ( 19,029 ) and the Macan ( 18,329 ). The fully-electric Taycan was the third most popular ( 9,470 ).
“ Our electromobility strategy is showing its effect : 23 per cent of all vehicles delivered were electrified – and 14 per cent were fully electric ,” said Oliver Blume , Chairman of the Executive Board , Porsche AG . The company is therefore on course to achieving its ambitious targets . In 2025 , half of all new Porsche sales are expected to be electrified – either fully electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles . By 2030 , the proportion of all new Porsche vehicles with an all-electric powertrain is expected to total more than 80 per cent .
Despite uncertain conditions around the world , Porsche continues to invest in areas relevant to the future such as electrification , digitalisation and sustainability . Porsche has already demonstrated its social commitment in the first quarter , with language courses for refugees from Ukraine and donations to the UN refugee programme .
Porsche is forging ahead with its drive to develop and manufacture high-performance battery cells : the sports car manufacturer is acquiring shares in U . S . company Group14 Technologies , a producer of advanced silicon-carbon technology for lithium-ion batteries . As lead investor , Porsche is raising 100 million U . S . dollars and leading a Series C funding round in which several companies are investing a total of 400 million U . S . dollars ( about 328 million euros ). n

TIMTOS 2023 to unveil Metaverse and EV innovations

The Taipei International Machine Tool Show ( TIMTOS ) is next scheduled to be held from 6-11 March 2023 . Taking place at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Centre Halls 1 & 2 , and TWTC Hall 1 , the exhibition will debut innovations and applications for the Metaverse and EV industry .
“ TIMTOS became the third largest machine tool show in the world in 2019 . Key themes for next year ’ s show are Green Machine Tools , Smart Machinery , Flexible Manufacturing and Digital Simulation ,” the show organiser , TAITRA , told ISMR .
The exhibition will showcase a full lineup of hybrid events , including online and offline procurement matchmaking , live broadcasting , fora and seminars . As well as a physical trade show , an online exhibition will also be available for one month .
The show will present a comprehensive metal processing ecosystem , from key components to smart manufacturing solutions . According to TAITRA , TIMTOS 2023 will focus on the issue of low-carbon supply chains . Smart solutions that integrate the concepts of digitalisation and carbon reduction will be highlighted at the show . “ Taiwan ranked third in the world ’ s machine tool exports in 2021 . Total exports of Taiwan machine tools in 2021 reached US $ 2.78 billion , a phenomenal increase of 29.1 % compared to 2020 . In addition , more than 50 % growth was recorded in Turkey , The Netherlands and Italy . Unsurprisingly , in anticipation of continuing global demand , Taiwanese machine tool outputs will increase in the years to come , while supply chain restructuring has generated new business opportunities ,” commented TAITRA . n
