Coil straighteners
COE Press Equipment has announced the suitability of its precision power straighteners for metal service centres , processing a variety of modern materials and alloys .
“ Developed from a straightener design originally launched in 2016 , our precision power straightener can process coil at widths from 1.0 ” to 78 ” and thicknesses of up to 0.650 ”, weights of up to 40,000lbs and yield strengths of up to 300KSI , while holding flatness tolerances of 0.003 ” TIR across 18 ”. This makes these straighteners a good solution for filling the capability gap between old straightener technology and corrective levellers ,” said the manufacturer .
The straighteners effectively remove coil set across a variety of coil materials including CR , HR , galvanized , pre-painted , dual- and triple-phase steels ; aluminium and copper . They also remove crossbow in many applications .
“ In comparison to other straighteners , this machine provides increased roll force delivery , stronger gears and bearings
and an improved straightener roller back-up mechanism for more robust rigidity . These straighteners can consistently achieve a level of flatness appropriate for highly precise applications , potentially saving money for customers while enabling them to handle more tighttolerance orders . This includes processing fine blanking and lasercut blanking applications ,” continued COE .

The straighteners can be purchased alone or as part of a complete press feeding solution or Cut-to-Length ( CTL ) line . COE CTL lines are configured from the company ’ s feeds , straighteners and reels coupled with shear and stacking solutions that are customised to particular needs . n

Pressing solutions
Schuler will be presenting a range of innovative solutions for increasing efficiency and flexibility in the press shop at the EuroBLECH trade fair in Hanover from 25-28 October 2022 .

Examples of Schuler ’ s turnkey lines include the modular Triton single presses , as well as the newly developed press lines or Schuler ’ s flexible laser blanking lines which , unlike conventional blanking lines , no longer require dies . Schuler will also be providing insights into the Smart Press Shop and its solutions for networking forming technology from the Digital Suite . These include solutions such as the “ Track

& Trace ” system for seamless follow-up of components , the “ Visual Die Protection ” camerabased monitoring system or the augmented reality application “ Schuler Connect ” to support customers in the event of a service call . “ Visual Quality Inspection ” is a further application for the visual inspection of components which has recently been added .
For e-mobility , Schuler offers equipment for the production of electric motor laminations , as well as cylindrical or prismatic battery housings . The company ’ s subsidiary , Aweba , supplies the appropriate dies for this application and others in sheet metal forming .

Sustainability is key . Solutions from Schuler ’ s Digital Suite are designed to increase the productivity , efficiency and availability of the lines and reduce energy requirements . In the meantime , the press manufacturer also has plant technology for the large-scale production of bipolar plates for fuel cells in its product range , which convert hydrogen into electrical energy .
