The silver medal from EcoVadis recognizes BENTELER Steel / Tube for its activities in sustainability according to the ESG criteria of environment , social and governance . Since its foundation in 2007 , EcoVadis has become the world ’ s largest provider of sustainability ratings for companies .
The EcoVadis score is based on a defined assessment catalogue that provides a comparable overview of EcoVadis-certified companies . The assessment focuses on twenty-one criteria grouped into four thematic areas : environment , labour and human rights , ethics and sustainable procurement . These criteria are based on international CSR ( Corporate Social Responsibility ) standards such as the ten principles of the U . N . Global Compact ; the conventions of the International Labour Organisation ( ILO ); the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative ( GRI ); the ISO 26000 standard ; the CERES principles and the U . N . Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights , also known as the “ Ruggie Framework ”.
BENTELER produced its first drawn tubes in 1918 .
innovation management as well as its own Industry 4.0 strategy for years . The latest digital technologies are already being used in production at its Paderborn site . These include networked machines and robots , machine learning for predictive maintenance and autonomous intelligent vehicles .
In April 2022 , it completed the comprehensive networking project for production processes at its Smart Factory in Mos , Spain . All processes in the factory are digitally networked and aligned with each other , from material receipt to delivery of the final product to the customer . With the network now fully completed , BENTELER can exploit the full potential of its Smart Factory .

Into the future
The future looks bright for BENTELER . Earlier this year , BENTELER EV Systems , Beep Inc ., and Mobileye , an Intel Company , announced a strategic collaboration to develop and deploy automotive-grade , fully electric , autonomous movers in public and private communities across North America .
