Manual grinding at Tummers
Tummers Plaatbewerking in The Netherlands is a ‘ one-stop shop ’ for sheet metal and mainly processes stainless steel by laser cutting , bending and assembly . It has over 25 years of experience and a line-up of modern sheet metalworking machinery including TRUMPF laser cutting machines and press brakes .
Although the process is largely automated , the company cannot do without a manual deburring machine and uses a Timesavers 10 series manual grinder . The machine works

“ Much of our sheet metal is for the food industry and the stainless steel must always have rounded edges . These Timesavers machines are suitable for that operation . We use the manual grinder if we have products that have a slightly lower grinding quality , so that we can process them in advance . Further processing is then done via the RB series machines ; this is mainly for the smaller products . In the past , an angle grinder may have been used for this operation , but we don ’ t use these anymore . Safety comes first ,” explained Ricardo Moerkens , Director , Tummers Plaatbewerking . When laser cutting virtually all types of metal , sharp edges and sometimes burrs are created which it is important to remove . The company ’ s deburring drum and Timesavers machines remove these imperfections from steel , stainless steel and aluminium sheet metal . This not only improves the appearance of the metal , but also contributes to the functionality and safety of the end-product .
“ We have been working with Timesavers for over ten years now ,” added Moerkens . “ We choose their machines because

they are rugged , offer low maintenance costs and guarantee a long tool life . The machines are easy to operate and explain . The directionless brush in the 42 RB series is suitable for our products . Our customers in the food industry expect this quality from us so , in turn , we expect that level of quality from our suppliers .”
Constant Group invests in surface finishing
The UK-based Constant Group provides a full design-to-manufacture service that encompasses its own products , including LED lighting systems for industrial and commercial applications and architectural products ( such as kick plates and ventilation systems ). It also provides a subcontract fabrication service , with customers across many industry sectors including pharmaceutical , food processing , enclosures and packaging . Today , it is a full-service supplier of fabricated parts and assemblies , operating from 50,000ft ² premises with the latest manufacturing technology .
With batch sizes ranging from 10-off through to 1000s off , the management team at Constant Group took the decision in 2019 to make a significant investment of £ 1 million in fibre laser and press brakes . While these machines may have been the main focus , the arrival of a Timesavers 12 series 600mm W deburring and finishing machine has also made a significant impact on the Group ’ s efficiency when grinding stainless steel materials .
“ The Timesavers machine was purchased specifically to process stainless steel , which we targeted as an area of operation where we could make the greatest efficiency ,” said Matthew Garlick , Joint Managing Director , Constant Group . “ Prior to the arrival of the 12 series machine we were hand-grinding all these parts , which could take 20 minutes each . We now achieve that in seconds , with consistent quality .”
“ The Timesavers machine has been running eight hours per day minimum , with no issues whatsoever , and the ability to have anyone running it is a big advantage especially during the COVID-19 pandemic ( where if we had
