Russian Prime Minister , Mikhail Mishustin , visited the pavilions of Russian machine tool builders at Metalloobrabotka 2021 to see new Russian products . He was briefed on new developments and discussed their prospects for implementation in the industry .
New developments and solutions were showcased in additive manufacturing , robotics , welding and related technologies , and surface treatment equipment and technology product sectors . Investment and innovation projects from Russian participants were also presented to potential investors and partners .
A new sector , Industry 4.0 , brought together leaders of digital transformation for the metalworking industry and young promising start-ups . The Skolkovo Foundation arranged two group stands with innovative projects in the Additive Technologies and Industry 4.0 sectors . Geomera , TermoLazer and New Dispersed Materials showed their technologies in the Industry 4.0 pavilion . Additive manufacturing and 3D printing technology were showcased in the Industry 3D pavilion . Different projects , installations and products were also demonstrated by F2 Innovations ; Creation ; Stereotech ; Onsint ; Novaprint 3D and 3D-Meduza .
The exhibition also highlighted vocational education and the training of highly qualified personnel for the machine tool industry . The large Science and Vocational Education section showcased 18 of Russia ’ s leading universities , presenting new developments .
The Employment Centre updated visitors on current job offers from exhibiting companies , posted CVs and offered professional career development consultations .

Conference highlights
One of the most important moments for the Russian metalworking industry in 2020 was the adoption of the development strategy for the machine tool industry for the period to 2035 . This year ’ s conference programme was , among other things , dedicated to the implementation of this strategy .
The conference programme for Metalloobrabotka 2021 opened with the ‘ Forum on the Prospects and Mechanisms for Implementing the Machine Tool Industry Strategy ’. It was organised by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade , EXPOCENTRE AO and the Industrial Project Management Centre .
Its plenary meeting was devoted to the potential of Russian manufacturers as part of the implementation of the Development Strategy for the Russian machine tool industry . Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade , Mikhail Ivanov , spoke about state support measures for the industry . He stressed that , according to the development strategy for the machine tool industry adopted last year , production volume is to be tripled by 2035 and export volumes increased five times .
Director of the Industrial Development Fund , Roman Petrutsa , noted that since the fund had been established six years ago , more than six hundred companies have received money to create new products , new production facilities and new technology .
A conference on ‘ The Current Development Level of the Russian Toolmaking Industry and New Metalworking Solutions ’ was also held during the event .
An Industry 4.0 session was also organised by the National Union of Suppliers of Equipment and Tools for Metalworking and EXPOCENTRE AO . Industry experts discussed trends in the automation of metalworking production and the role of artificial intelligence , demonstrated modern technical and software solutions , and shared practical experience in implementing manufacturing innovations .
The Conference on Industrial Robotics was organised by EXPOCENTRE AO and the Russian Association of Robotics ( RAR ) with participation by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade . Leading developers shared their experiences on introducing robots into production .
Two-day workshops devoted to the new capabilities of digital manufacturing were organised by Zyfra Group , with the assistance of EXPOCENTRE AO . Those interested in discrete manufacturing attended the workshop on ‘ The Fundamentals of Digital Manufacturing ’.
Several events at Metalloobrabotka 2021 were also devoted to welding technology . Another key event was a discussion on cooperation between machine tool builders from Russia and Switzerland organised by the Stankin Moscow State University of Technology and IWF ETH Zürich . Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to the Russian Federation , Krystyna Marty Lang , took part in the event .
The final day of Metalloobrabotka 2021 concluded with the CyberBiathlon ‘ IT- Battle ’. The event was held for students and beginners with different skill levels to identify professional competences in information security , design and programming in industrial IT . n
