CECIMO celebrates MTI award winners
The European Association for Manufacturing Technologies ( CECIMO ) successfully hosted the second edition of the Machine Tools Innovation ( MTI ) Awards on 2 December 2024 at the CECIMO Brussels Forum . The event brought together policymakers , industry leaders and other relevant stakeholders . The MTI Awards recognise and celebrate outstanding contributions to the machine tool industry .
The second edition of the MTI Awards was officially opened with the keynote address by Kerstin Jorna , Director General of the Directorate-General for Internal Market , Industry , Entrepreneurship and SMEs , of the European Commission . In her opening speech , she called for innovative thinking and strategic alignment across all levels of governance , emphasising that the manufacturing sector must take the lead in shaping a sustainable , competitive and resilient European economy .
In addition to the MTI Award for Best Overall Solution , the 2024 edition introduced two new subcategories this year : the Green Impact Award for outstanding sustainability potential and contribution to a greener future and the
SME Excellence Award ( for the best solutions presented by small and medium-sized enterprises ).
The 2024 MTI Award for Best Overall Solution was awarded to AdaptX for its project , “ Eliminating Metalworking Fluids : A Sustainable Path to Efficient Machining .” The award was accepted by the company ’ s co-founder , Tim Bornemann . As part of this recognition , AdaptX will have the opportunity to showcase its project at EMO Hannover 2025 .
The Green Impact Award was won by Prima
Additive for its project “ Metal AM for Industrial Mass Production : Flexible Robotic System for Brake Disc Coating to Enable Sustainability in Automotive .” The award was accepted by Paolo Calefati , CEO of Prima Additive , while the SME Excellence Award was presented to Valcun for its project “ Deployable Metal Additive Manufacturing for Industry .” The award was accepted by Jonas Galle , CEO and Co-founder of Valcun .
The competition is organised by CECIMO and officially supported by EIT Manufacturing ; European Factories of the Future Research Association – EFFRA ; the European Round Table for Industry – ERT and EMO Hannover 2025 . The 2025 edition of the MTI Awards will take place at EMO Hannover ( 22-26 September 2025 ) with the competition opening for applications in January 2025 . n
Meet ISMR at Southern Manufacturing
Meet ISMR at the Southern Manufacturing & Electronics exhibition 2025 ( 4-6 February 2025 ), which has now become an international event . It regularly attracts around 9,000 visitors and , said the organiser , 500 + exhibitors . It will be held at the Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre in the UK . This new 20,000m ² venue offers modern facilities , easy access and free onsite parking . ISMR is a media supporter of the event and will distribute its February issue throughout the show .
Now owned and managed by Easyfairs , the comprehensive annual industrial trade show is a major platform for new technology in production and inspection equipment , components and subcontract services across a wide spectrum of industries . Professionals engaged in design ,
manufacturing and procurement can explore a wide array of equipment including machine tools ; tooling ; workholding ; production hardware ; automation and robotics ; test and measurement equipment ; quality control solutions ; engineering software ; materials supply and other technologies .

On 18 December 2024 , the show organiser ( Easyfairs ) announced the acquisition of UK Metals Expo Limited ( an annual event in the UK for the entire metals supply chain ). UK Metals Expo will take place from 10-11 September 2025 at the NEC in Birmingham , UK . n
