FOCUS ON BENDING
TRUMPF launched a new , entry-level press brake for companies entering the metal-bending market at EuroBLECH 2022 in Hanover last October . Featuring the new Right Angle ( RA ) control system , the TruBend 1000 has a user-friendly interface and comes with TRUMPF ’ s tech data for metal bending . The TruBend 1000 Classic is suitable for companies manufacturing simple and semi-complex parts in medium batch sizes . The initial version weighs 225 metric tons and has a bending length of four metres .
The German sheet-metal specialist also displayed a new and versatile multigripper designed to deliver greater productivity for automated bending processes . It is fitted to the TRUMPF BendMaster robotic arm . Up to 12 grippers can be positioned in this way . Whereas a conventional gripper has to be modified for each new workpiece , all necessary adjustments for the new multigripper can be made at the system level . This reduces the time needed to set up the bending cell .
TRUMPF offers various models in its TruBend press brake series . The TruBend Series 8000 , for example , handles large-format and thick components .
For automated die bending , it has the TruBend Cell 5000 and TruBend Cell 7000 . The TruBend Cell 7000 is what TRUMPF dubs “ the world ’ s fastest small-part bending cell .” The LoadMaster Bend loads the press brake with blanks parallel to production . An integrated sheet sensor transfers them to the BendMaster .
TY Associates in Japan has introduced ‘ MY DIE ’, a new bending lower die for press brakes .
“ MY DIE performs an incredible short flange . Depending on the material and thickness , no die changeover is needed . The bend allowance is almost the same as for standard V dies . It achieves high bending straightness with its unique structure and little hole deformation close to the bend line .
The wings of MY DIE are coated with DLC ( diamond-like carbon ) which ensure long life ,” it commented .

The Smart Tooling Concept features New Standard Premium tools with a scannable ID ; the WILA Smart Tooling app ( where tool specifications and bending advice can be directly accessed ) and wireless tool data synchronisation ( a WILA tool-holder equipped with Bluetooth synchronises tool data with the press-brake control ).
“ Our tool holders with a Tooling Identification and Positioning System ( TIPS ) are equipped with Bluetooth . The information provided by TIPS enables it to pick up the right tool and position it in the right place . But TIPS is also useful for manual and semi-automatic bending because the detailed information that it provides prevents errors and speeds up tool handling . This prevents test bending and increases productivity , especially for small batches with lots of variations ,” explained WILA .
WILA New Standard Premium Tooling is CNC-Deep-hardened ® to 56-60 HRC , up to 4mm on all working surfaces . This , said the company , provides maximum wear resistance , durability and long-term accuracy .
