Mobile filter unit

The Fumex CMF is a high-performance filter unit with W3 certification for mobile use .
“ Minimal pressure drop through the filter and externally arranged support arms on the extraction arm enable high air flow rates of roughly 1800 cubic metres per hour . This results in better extraction and cleaning of welding fumes and dust , for example , without high energy consumption ,” said the German specialist .
The cleanable unit has a simple control panel and is easy to manoeuvre . There are three models with W3 certification and three distinct cleaning methods : -
n CMF 10 – manual . n CMF 20 – automatic with an electric motor . n CMF 30 – automatic with an electric motor and compressed air .
If airflow is insufficient , an audible alarm serves as a warning and indicates that the filter cartridge needs to be cleaned or replaced . Dust particles which become detached from the filter cartridge during all cleaning procedures fall into the dust collection container .
“ The filter cartridge removes more than 99 % of the fumes and dust from welding work on high-alloy steels , for example steels with a nickel and chromium content of 30 % and more . The fan wheel has backward-curved blades and is highly efficient .
It is designed to maintain uniform , high rates of airflow even when the filter cartridge is dirty . In combination with minimal pressure drop at the extraction arm , this makes the CMF filter unit particularly efficient ,” said the German filtration specialist .
“ The extraction arm cover is designed for maximum suction power and optimised for the extraction of welding fumes . The flow of air is controlled by a manually-operated throttle valve on the cover mounting ,” it added .
The filter unit is supplied pre-assembled . Accessories include spark trap ; silencer ; LED lighting and HEPA filter ( class H14 ). A clamp sensor for automatic start / stop and an extension hose are also available . Extraction hoses for special applications are also available on request . n

Multi-process TIG welding

Fronius is launching the iWave , an intelligent , high-end TIG welding series for different metals that is available in power categories from 190A to 500A .
“ The innovative Option CycleTIG provides for maximum control over the arc and targeted heat input . Further highlights include improved ignition control and greater ease of use with intuitive operation . It features sophisticated TIG technology and is ideally suited to manual metal arc welding , even with cellulose electrodes . The Multiprocess PRO option gives the user unlimited access to all MIG / MAG processes in power categories from 300A ,” explained Fronius .
“ Customers can individually choose the specific features that they need and add to the range of functions ( as and when needed ). Starting with standard TIG or standard MIG / MAG applications , the iWave enables upgrades to the full Fronius range , including the Cold Metal Transfer ( CMT ), Pulse Multi Control ( PMC ) and Low Spatter Control ( LSC ) welding packages ,” it added .
According to the welding specialist , the iWave supports the main communication standards and is ready for Industry 4.0 . Modern wireless connections give welders greater freedom and security . Peripheral devices , such as a remote control or the hightech Vizor Connect welding helmet , can be wirelessly connected via Bluetooth . WLAN enables communication with other devices in the same network so that the user can enjoy a host of digital benefits , such as central user management , real-time data transfer and rapid updates .
“ It is the first TIG power source on the market with a Real Energy ( kJ ) display and analysis feature . In addition , Power Factor Correction ( PFC ) provides for efficient energy consumption and no-load power consumption of the device is always below 50W ,” concluded Fronius . n
