A smooth edge

SBM-L grinding and deburring machines from Lissmac are dry operated . Metal , stainless steel and aluminium can be processed in alternate operation .
“ The machines debur and round the edges of exterior and interior contours of punched , laser-fine , plasma or waterjet cut workpieces of widths of up to 2,000mm and thicknesses from 0.5 to 50mm , on both sides , in one operation . Coated sheet metals can also be processed ,” Lissmac told ISMR .
Two grinding units , one on each upper or lower side , remove splashes and burrs . Four grinding belts , two on the upper and two on the lower side , simultaneously process the metal sheets on both sides . All edges can be blunted or rounded , depending upon the tool setting . According to Lissmac , simultaneous processing of both sides eliminates the need for time-consuming turning of heavy parts , and two-sided processing ensures a high level of productivity . The machine can be individually configured with the required tools , according to a customer ’ s requirements .
“ All processing units can be turned on and off separately . All units travel into the change position and then back to the processing position at the touch of a button , which enables quicker tool change . The cross-machining principle guarantees optimum tool utilisation over the entire working width . The feed speed is infinitely adjustable ,” explained the manufacturer .
The SBM-L machines are controlled via a touch panel . All operational information is clearly displayed and the operator language can be selected . In addition , says Lissmac , the machine features an intuitive user interface , high levels of operating safety using three password-protected user levels and an integrated program memory with a capacity of 10,000 data sets . A USB port enables data exchange and the connection of components ( such as a barcode scanner ). The Siemens S7 control also enables the connection of automation solutions
e . g . for loading and unloading via robots , or the integration of the machine into existing production lines . During the machining process , all axles automatically adjust to the pre-set material thickness . Deactivated units remain in standby mode .
“ Customers can expand the machine ’ s scope of performance with additional options . These include automatic wear compensation for the grinding modules ; electronic measuring of the material thickness ; a barcode scanner ; RFID user identification or machine and operating data recording . The machine offers an improved working environment without flying sparks , dust , dirt or noise as well as user-friendly ergonomics ,” added Lissmac .
Lissmac grinding and deburring machines are prepared for remote maintenance and can be linked with each other through conveyor and control technology .
