Dormer Pramet completes acquisition of Miranda Tools
Dormer Pramet has completed its acquisition of Miranda Tools , a manufacturer of highspeed steel ( HSS ) cutting tools in India . With a corporate base in Mumbai and several manufacturing facilities in the state of Gujarat , Miranda Tools is one of the leading domestic brands of drills , taps , milling cutters , tool bits and saws .
Following six months of activity to finalise the acquisition , more than 580 employees will now become part of Dormer Pramet , a global manufacturer of cutting tools . This enhances the company ’ s existing production capabilities in Brazil , the Czech Republic and the USA .
An inauguration ceremony took place at the main Miranda production unit in Ankleshwar , India , on 23 December 2020 , marking the first day since the acquisition from the Ashok Piramal Group . Angala Srinivasan was introduced as the new production unit manager , responsible for all Miranda Tools manufacturing facilities . Gautam Ahuja , managing director of Dormer Pramet India , was also presented to employees , along with several key representatives .
Meanwhile , due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions on international travel , Stefan Steenstrup , Dormer Pramet President , provided a welcome address via video link .

is therefore fitting that in this milestone year the brand returns to its metalworking heritage by becoming part of Dormer Pramet , a leading manufacturer of cutting tools for more than a century . We see this acquisition as business as usual and I would like to reassure all our customers and partners that it will not impact on their ability to receive the products they need , when they need them ,” he commented . Dormer Pramet ’ s portfolio encompasses rotary and indexable drilling , milling , threading and turning tools for use in a wide variety of production environments . An extensive sales and technical support service operate from 20 offices , serving more than 100 markets worldwide . These are assisted by dedicated production facilities in Europe , Americas and Asia , along with a distribution and logistics network .
WIN Eurasia moves to November
The WIN EURASIA 2021 exhibition has now postponed its original event date in March to 10-13 November 2021 .
Following intensive discussions , and in view of the current developments in the global incidence of infections of the corona pandemic , Hannover Fairs Turkey decided to postpone WIN EURASIA by around nine months .

New high-speed aerosol can line
Ball Metalpack , a North American manufacturer of steel cans for food and household products , has announced plans to launch a new high-speed aerosol can line at its DeForest , Wis ., can manufacturing plant . The line is expected to be operational in the second quarter of 2021 .
“ The new line will be our third steel aerosol can manufacturing line to be added within a 12-month period in our U . S . plant network , joining recently added high-speed aerosol can lines at the DeForest plant and at our Chestnut Hill , Tenn ., plant ,” it told ISMR .
The new aerosol line at DeForest will support strong customer growth in categories such as household cleaning products and spray paint , among others . To construct the line , Ball Metalpack is combining under-utilised existing can-making assets with new high-speed aerosol can manufacturing equipment , to ‘ bring the new line into production more cost-effectively and more quickly than if it had been built from scratch ’.
The company will add approximately 20 additional employees to the 90 already working at the DeForest plant now , for a total of more than 110 workers .
“ We are delighted to be able to support our customers ’ continued growth with this new manufacturing capacity , and by our team ’ s ability to bring it online quickly and costeffectively ,” said Jim Peterson , Ball Metalpack ’ s chief executive officer . “ Over the past 12 months , our aerosol can demand has grown by double-digits , and with long-term customer contracts in place , we see no sign of this trend slowing down , even after the COVID-19 pandemic eases .”
The additional aerosol can manufacturing capacity added by Ball Metalpack in 2020 has been absorbed quickly by customer orders , Peterson added .
Ball Metalpack supplies sustainable steel packaging solutions for food and aerosol products in North America . With about 1,300 employees , the private company is based in Broomfield , Colorado , with eight U . S . plants . It was formed in June 2018 as a joint venture between majority owner Platinum Equity and Ball Corporation . n
