FROM THE EDITOR
Despite headwinds in 2024 such as high energy prices , global conflicts and rising inflation levels , the global sheetmetal industry has shown itself to be resilient , dynamic and flexible . It continues to embrace new technologies and processes , with an ongoing focus on improving productivity and innovation . The year culminated in an explosion of new technology and product launches at the 27th International Sheet Metal Working Technology Exhibition , EuroBLECH 2024 , in Hanover ( Germany ) from 22-25 October 2024 .
2024 was also a special year for ISMR as it celebrated its 25th anniversary . It is such a pleasure and privilege to be part of such a vibrant and innovative industry , supporting and promoting its remarkable developments over the years . We would like to extend a special thank you to all our readers , supporters and advertisers for their support over the years .
In this issue of ISMR , we continue to review the sheetmetal industry in 2024 by interviewing several global manufacturers on their views of 2024 as well as their plans , projects and market forecasts for 2025 . You can read their responses throughout this issue of ISMR as they highlight new product launches and technology innovations , areas of opportunity and market developments / expectations .

Economic forecasts , trends and movements in the MENA ( Middle East and North Africa ) region for manufacturers are presented in our regional report on page 31 . We outline how sheet metal machinery can learn to ‘ see ’ using artificial intelligence ( AI ) on page 38 . We also preview the Southern Manufacturing & Electronics exhibition in the UK ( page 42 ) and the TIMTOS exhibition in Taiwan ( page 60 ). Roll forming , surface finishing and coil coating also come under the spotlight in this issue .
